It was great to spend another evening at the Club again, and to see the great talents of Norfolk jazz strut their stuff once more. But it's somewhat unsettling to be asked to be silent during the session when the essence of live jazz is the ability to enjoy and share and participate in the whole experience of live music. Jazz is a celebration of life - it's not trammelled by the formalities of a classical concert. It's also free of charge and we don't have allocated seats like a theatre.

Surely, we don't have to stand on ceremony and make like we're at The Albert Hall? Jazz is joyous and is an endangered genre. Please don't get hung up about friends talking to friends and sharing the experience. It doesn't mean we're not listening or being disrespectful to the musicians. This is actually one of the last free spaces we can enjoy ourselves. Ruth Capocci

Ah Ruthie I am sorry you feel like that, but many of us do actually go to listen to the jazz and support the band every week, it is a social occasion yes … but loud talking by people who do talk ALL the time does make the evening rather unpleasant for those who like to listen especially when the soloist are playing. As far as most of us are concerned who sit near the band we do go to listen to the music. Persistent loud talking does certainly annoy us .

It is not a pub as you said but a social club, which on a Thursday evening we go to hear the jazz…nor a classical event where one just sits and listens…however it is our evening of jazz, We all talk through the evening but hopefully not loudly all the time.

It was good to see you and Chris and hope you can always feel you can come along and listen to the music, as you say it is free.
