Easter Jazz

What a great night of live music and fun at our Easter Evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham.
With the Sole Bay Jazz Band and friends…

Thanks to everyone who came along to support these fine musicians, also for the digging deep for the raffle which of course goes towards getting these musicians every week. I must say thank you to Tim who valiantly managed to get through all the different coloured raffle tickets as well as those prizes, sorry but it was worth it…Thanks must got to all those people who do help with the prizes, I appreciate that.

Some great playing and  even a play of Easter Parade! Ron a great solo, some different tunes, thanks Don  (Great to see you and Keith able to come again) for remembering some of those, it all added to the night, as they play every week sometimes hard to find something a bit different, but they always manage it.

The back line as usual giving it their all… even frightening Tim with all that yummy drumming Craig! Tony that string bass comes alive, even if you do not look up for the photos!! Alan with guitar and banjo, (thanks for getting that line up Alan) Our Ray who can get so many notes from that piano, as he did the trumpet when he played, as does Trummy on the trombone, notes galore, Ron as always when he comes brings his touch of class from all those years playing all over the world and loves to come and play for us, Tim who plays so well for us every week  and has such a mine of information about whatever the tune is and where is originated. To add to the mix, Simon came along and gave us all so many memories with his choice of songs thanks Simon great, especially as there is a lot of worry in the family ( so good to see Sheila and Kim) we send our love and hugs to try and help at this time.

So a very good evening to start getting ready for Easter Holiday, once again thanks to my raffle ticket folders, Heidi who works so well behind that bar, with always a smile, thank to Jon for allowing us each week to invade the Pavilion, to all you lovely people who come along every week to enjoy live music, you make the night …may it long continue. Jan for driving and for getting us home safe even with the diversions it was fun if not a little frightening in those country lanes!! Should we have taken into account the Road Closed signs ha ha…

A few photos to give those who could not attend…But who look in…

Another good night of Jazz music last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…with the Sole Bay Jazz Band.

Some really talented playing, from all and tunes have not heard for a while also some good songs, which made the evening fun as well, because the band members all were enjoying the music…

We had vocals from Tony P and Roy as well.

I did take one photo, hoping young Fudge will send me some she took.

A good crowd came along to enjoy the music, and very happy to see that some of our regulars who have been ill returned. For those who I know are struggling at the moment with family members suffering we send you all our best and hope things will improve.

Thanks Heidi coping well as always. Also thanks to Jon who we 'borrow' the room from.

The raffle was another success thanks all of you who buy tickets each week, also for my lovely ticket folders, and for those who bring prizes to boost up the ones we buy from the kitty, it helps to keep the band playing each week for our pleasure. Next week hopefully even more prizes as it is Easter Week. And with a great line up which Alan will tell me shortly the full list. So hope to see another good crowd to support the live music.

Simon & Ray

A little piece of Simon singing and Ray playing, with apologies for me saying blast when poor Heidi brought the coffee! but still worth a look… Tony having a rest in the background!
Thanks to Simon and Ray…

Great Jazz Night!

Well that was a great night of talented playing and singing  from the Sole Bay Jazz Band and friends at The Sports Pavilion. Ditchingham…

A really good appreciative audience to support these fine musicians…Thanks Sole Bay a great night…

The line up gelled so well …I always have to say it …we are so lucky to have such a great venue with wonderful musicians every Thursday evening to play for us. We need more chairs I must admit especially with the line up that played last night! sorry for those who had to stand, and also for those who had to put up with a lot of talking while the musicians were doing solo parts, but I hope it did not spoil the music.

What a pleasure to hear Simon Denny perform for us again, come again soon Simon… and thanks to Ray who played beautifully while Simon sang a great number especially for Sheila his Mum. It was so good to see the family attending again, dear Keith would be so proud.

Heidi what a great job you always do,  it was busy and the smile is always there, so good to have such great friends that meet up each week…like an extended family. Lovely to see a few of the not so well ones coming along again, as always lots of good wishes to those still too unwell to attend.

Thanks as always for digging deep for the raffle,  poor Tim  always says it is a drag however he does a good job of calling the numbers out, and it is not like bingo!!! but think we could up the amount of prizes now as we get such good crowds, and thanks as always to those who put extra prizes in much appreciated. Sorry Tim!!!! I always tell people the raffle is for Alan to get such good musicians each week, and of course it is, but it is nice to see what pleasure and pain it is to see who wins each week. Great banter so thank you all.

A few photos, missed you off Tony sorry…and maybe a little bit of video later of Simon with Ray, not sure what it will be like.

Sole Bay Jazz + friends

Last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham. a good crowd came along to enjoy live music with the Sole Bay Band and friends…

Hope everyone enjoyed the night. Not so jazzy as usual, or maybe it was me! plus when one cannot see all the band it is hard to see the interaction between the players, maybe time to move to a different area. Some nice music a lot of different sounds! Tim played a good solo… Tony sang some fun songs… Dave did well sitting in for Craig on the drums, some great piano from Ray, Alan as well on the banjo and guitar, Tony had a nice lot of string bass play, Derek played well with some of his arrangements.

I think the amps might have been the problem from where we sat as when I was doing the raffle in the middle of the room it did sound different, however it was live music and we are so pleased to be able to listen every week. It is hard for Alan to get different line ups every week, and he cannot always please everyone all the time, ha ha especially me!!! but a great job Alan.
keep up the good work.

Thanks to everyone for digging deep for the raffle again and also to those who give prizes to add to the raffle. Working hard our Heidi as always behind the bar… Great friends lovely to meet up with on a Thursday evening…a couple of new faces again nice to see, but also some of the regulars not able to be there, get in touch if you look in and let me know how you all are. we do miss you.

I only took a couple of photos, but Fudge if yours came out let me have them please! Not the one of me though!!!

a couple of photos from Fudge…
