Party night…

A good musical night with The Sole Bay Jazz Band at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

A good crowd came along to enjoy the live music and enjoy some food and party fun. Nice to see a nice lot of food being shared as well.

The band played a nice selection of music and a few Christmas ones as well and Barry gave us a few songs which everyone enjoyed.

Near the end of the evening Ray found his cornet and his santa hat and brought the evening to a fun ending. With Barry on the piano.

I would just like to thank all the band members who come along every week to play for us you make our Thursday nights, so I wish you a very Merry Christmas and see you all on the 9th of January 2020.

I would also like to thank all my friends who look in on here to read about the Jazz and wish you all A Very Happy Christmas and a Healthy new Year. Maybe sometimes you can make a comment !!!!!

Clover and Christine  did a great raffle and thanks to one of our number a lovely hamper was the surprise prize, thanks to everyone who dug really deep and for those who fold the tickets each week.

Thank Emily serving us well behind the bar and always a help to me.

A few were missing due to illness, including our Fudge, but nice to see Terry and Jenny back for the evening.

Thanks Clive for some fun and for the chocs.

On her way out of the Pavilion  Clover found a ring, so if you  lost one last evening if you can contact me on messenger I will pass on to Clover, and she will make sure it is returned to you.

A lovely evening of entertainment at Southwold  Pavilion, Dixie Mix always know how to have fun and make sure the audience has a wonderful evening.

They are so talented and never a dull moment just music and singing the night away. Simon leading the band with his usual sense of humour…Pete…Chris…Kev…Tony…John all such wonderful talented musicians, as always a pleasure to see and hear them.

Nice to see Keith and have a chat as well.

Thanks Richard for taking us, and lovely company Jan and Jazz Janet.

Great scampi and chips as well!

May have to re think about my little camera it does not like taking photos indoors, did a little movie of the only Christmas song they have done!!! but it is too wobbly to put on here! But have managed to salvage a few photos, although Kev and Tony hide behind I did get a few with them on.

Thanks Guys for a great evening and for all the hugs and chat.

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

Another good evening of Jazz and Blues from The Sole Bay Jazz Band at The Sports Pavilion, Ditchingham.

The weather was a very rainy blustery night, so only the die hard fans turned up, however those who were there enjoyed a really good evening of live music, we are so lucky to have these talented musicians coming along each week to play for us, so hope that in the New Year when the band comes back after a break …old and new people who love live music will come along again. The last evening this year is the 19th December 2019…'party night'… and the band returns 9th January 2020.

Tim and Trummy playing so well always a good act together! Ray on piano and a nice giggle when a french tune was played he turned the accordion button on ,very nice! and a little blow with the trumpet at the end.
Our wonderful back liners who play all night long Alan…Tony and Craig how talented are they. then we have Barry who has a really great voice and always finds something different to sing and love that the band all look at the music he provides, and suddenly it all fits together and every one enjoys themselves.

Thanks Christine and Clover for the raffle always a very nice one, and will be even better for the party night…thanks as always to our 'boys' for folding all those tickets, and those who were there last night for digging deep as always.

Our Emily behind the bar always happy and smiling and thanks for your help.

I did manage a couple of photos this week and did not lose them when downloading so that is a relief as always Fudge has some good one on her Sole Bay face book page. Lovely to see her there as not been a well young lady!

I wish all those in poor health who could not get there last evening a fast track to health and come back to join us…

We have lost a few lovely fans  over the past years who now look down from up there, and last week it was a year since our dear Brian went to join them so Chris if you are still looking in, we still miss that Dad of yours.

Sole Bay Jazz Band with guests…

What a great evening of live music from The Sole Bay Jazz Band with guests
at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

I took some really good photos but just lost everything from my camera as computer did a blip! so a bit sad about that, as had some personal ones on there as well …however Fudge does have some photos on the FB page.

Tim in charge with some great playing as always and lots of fun with cheerful antidotes!

Derek managed a good play although could see some pain there! wonderful to still be playing.

Phil always a great guitar playing… lovely solo!

Ray giving the keyboard a thorough work out…

Our super back liners Tony lovely to see you looking up and I took some lovely shots only to lose them, that string bass zinged.

Alan on guitar and Banjo looking like he was enjoying the night.

Craig those lovely old Bassett drums got a good thrashing!

Barry in fine voice as always! I took a good photo now lost in space.

A good crowd just like it used to be before we lost so many friends who I hope were looking down last night as it was a great gig…

Some of the new people last evening were from an appreciation group who were I hope very impressed with the evening, they certainly looked like they enjoyed it …so hope they come again Lynn from the group gave us a song, I had heard her before when she sang at Cool Blue band and she was delightful.

Thanks Clover and Christine for the raffle you had a big evening! thanks of course to our 3 'boys' who fold all the tickets.

A big thank you of course as always to you all digging deep for the raffle as you know that and the bar profits are what keeps these talented musicians coming along each week to play for us.

Emily a busy bar last night and thanks for all your help, that smile is great x

Again sad that no photos so sorry.

Hope to see a good crowd next week, and the week after the 19th will be the last before Christmas, and you can bring goodies for the evening!

A good evening of varied music, and a little fun! (yes Ray) ha ha …

Tim on his saxophones and clarinet…and Derek still able to sit on the stool and play music from his large book of words …was not quite sure how The Private Eye book had a reason for being there… but it made me giggle … some great playing from our back line Tony…Alan and some nice drumming young Craig… Ray setting the piano alight… good vocals from Barry as well…

Second half I was so happy to see that the band were good to ask young Henry to play… such a talented young man and not at all phased that he was playing with some great musicians …and thanks Ray and all for encouraging him…I know he looks in on here, so well done Henry always a pleasure to hear you play it always moves me.

Thanks to one and all for digging deep for the raffle thanks Don and Jan for folding the tickets…Christine and Clover do a grand job each week and Tim with 'Loverly Biscuits' always makes us laugh…thank to you all as the raffle and the bar help to have live music each week.

Sole Bay Jazz night…

A lovely evening of Jazz …Blues and Fun at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham with The Sole Bay Jazz Band and friends… much more like the past times.

Tim playing saxophone/clarinet really good …Trummy with Trombone and Euphonium…Craig looking refreshed and playing some great drums…Alan busy on guitar/banjo and looking happy…Tony on that double bass sounding so good with Barry on piano and vocals very nice indeed.

Lots of music Barry was not used to as Tim picked some really different tunes however Trummy and Alan on hand to help also Tim being him managed to keep things light saying also a lot of keys that Barry wanted to play in they did not know! and it was a fun night everyone in the band seemed to gel so well, so a real pleasure.

I was a bit grumpy because some loud talking when the solos were being played, but always get reminded that it is a social night ha ha old school me!

Sadly a lot of our (old school) folk are off ill at the moment, so from all your Jazz Friends get better soon take care of yourselves and come back when you can.

A small crowd but those of you who were there dug deep for the raffle and as usual  Clover and Christine did a grand job of that.

Thanks Emily always a smile and a help.

Thanks band it was a really good night… think Tony will have some videos and Fudge has photos on FB mine did not come out well but will post one anyway.

Sole Bay Jazz Band Entertains

The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, resounded with jazz last evening…with the Sole Bay Jazz and guests…

In March 2018 we had Pete Rudeforth coming along to play for us with Trummy and the Sole Bay regulars… in the audience that night Tony Parsons our departed friend said to me about this blog diary of mine I may not have all the correct english etc and lots of Capitals in the wrong place…apostrophes…ellipsis as well but I say it from the heart, so I was going to blast you all with a huge write up because last night everyone in the band played their hearts out  BUT last year I wrote…

"Entertaining…Wonderful…Terrific Talent…Fun and much more… one of the best nights…"

It was just that all over again…so thank you 'our band 'you were simply the best we have heard for a while so good to see you all enjoying it…

A little bit sad that although we had a good crowd, some of our regulars were missing so you missed a great night of music…so if you were ill get better soon.

So good to have trumpets again! so thank you Pete and Ray and of course earlier in the evening Ray was at his piano…Tim always plays well so nice to see him really enjoy himself as did Craig Tony and Alan, Trummy so many notes …(your mate who you came with certainly enjoyed the music… really with it)

Barry sang us some good songs as well and to forget a few words in that massive word song was not a fault it was great. Loved that you took over from Ray on the Piano when he played trumpet, how lucky are we to have such talent every week.

Thanks to Clover and Christine for the raffle and of course for those who dug deep because you know with money from the bar the raffle is what helps to keep this the band coming to play for us each week as we cannot charge an entrance fee. Thanks also to our 'Boys" who fold all the tickets. Also thanks Christine and Clover for sharing with Jan and me …nice change to sit at the middle table.

Lovely Emily behind the bar giving us her smile and happiness as always cheering everyone one up.

I took a few photos some were not so good because our lovely band moved a lot!!!!

Sole Bay Jazz Band evening…

A nice crowd last evening at The Sports Pavilion to listen to The Sole Bay Jazz Band…

A bit of a different evening with a more big band theme with Martin who gave us some lovely melodies with Ray at the piano, Tim and Martin (looking smart) playing Sax and Clarinet in harmony sounding good. our great back line Alan…Tony… Craig. Then our Barry singing a couple of songs, so a really nice evening altogether.

We are so lucky they come and play for us each week, I do miss some of the interaction they used to have, but like me they are getting older (sorry lads) and it is these colder dark wet evenings when one would rather be sitting in front of a fire, they do a great job, even if they get tired. (was that a little doze Tony? ha ha) And I usually moan because they are sometimes too loud as I have good hearing, but I do go to hear and see the band and meet up with old friends, as do a lot of the long term jazz people, nice though to see some new faces again this week.

Was sad to hear that one of our dear friends Bill Skinner is not in the best of health, so thinking of you Bill and your family, what talent and fun you always brought to the band.

Thank Clover and Christine for the raffle, that and the bar help keep the band coming along each week, thanks as always for digging deep for the raffle and it is always good prizes, thanks to Don again for folding the tickets.

I know Alan sometimes has a struggle to find certain players, so come on some of you who used to play for us as Delia says 'Lets be having you" come along and sit in a couple of numbers now and then,  but I suppose most players have their own bands now and are busy.

Thank Emily keeping everyone happy with the bar nice to see your smiling face.

I did mange a couple of photos without blinding the band with my flash and Fudge has some on her FB page for the Sole Bay.

Sole Bay Jazz night…

A very good evening of Jazz and Blues and lovely old songs played and sung, by The Sole Bay Jazz Band and Friends last evening …At The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

Thanks to all the band not a great lot of smiles but some really good playing, well there were some smiles when Barry managed to nearly get through the thousand of words of a piece that it usually just played by the band …well done to him, did not know it was a song! Some lovely singing. Even if I did not get a good photo if you, but think Fudge managed one on her FB.

What a lovely sight to see so many fans there, it has been so thin on the ground of late and even without looking round could hear the applause from the back of room, glad everyone was enjoying the music and singing…so once again thank you all for digging deep for the raffle… Thanks to Christine and Clover for doing the raffle really nice prizes and thank you to all those who donate some weeks to the raffle it all helps keep these talented musicians for us each wee, and for our 'boys' folding all those tickets.

I see Tony was doing a little video so that is good it will be on FB on Fudge's Sole Bay page. Hope we did not do anything that was recorded that spoilt it!

A few photos…
