Thursday

No doubt you Jazzers will be like me … feeling the loss of Jazz for a while. I do hope no one will turn up as they may not have a computer or a modern phone, but know Jon will be putting a notice on the Sports Centre door.

Stay safe and keep in touch and I am sure we will soon be back with our Thursday evenings of jazz. I have been having fun looking back on my blog at some of the photos of the many nights we have had some fun at Jazz, think I started putting photos on about 2009, so lots of memories.

Make sure all you band to keep practicing in the meantime .

Will miss you all while we have to isolate. But keep smiling.

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

IT IS WITH MUCH REGRET TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE SOLE BAY JAZZ BAND WILL HAVE TO CANCEL THE LIVE MUSIC AT THE SPORTS PAVILION ON A THURSDAY EVENING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

THEY,  AS YOU CAN IMAGINE ARE DEVASTATED TO DO THIS, BUT AS WE AND THEY ARE MOSTLY ELDERLY WE MUST BE CAREFUL, NOT ONLY FOR THE WONDERFUL AUDIENCES THAT ATTEND, BUT ALSO THAT SOME FAMILIES OF THE BAND AND MAYBE ALL OF US … ARE NOT IN GOOD HEALTH AND COULD BE AT RISK.

I SINCERELY HOPE THAT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE THE BAND WILL BE BACK TO ENTERTAIN US ALL.

PLEASE EVERYONE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES AND YOUR CLOSE ONES, AND WE CAN ALWAYS KEEP IN TOUCH BY PHONE…MAIL…

LOOK AFTER THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ESPECIALLY YOURSELVES.

Sole Bay Jazz Band with guests…

A really great night of live music with loads of fun and giggles…The Sole Bay Jazz Band and guests, gave us a very talented and entertaining evening…

Well done everyone and thank you for cheering us all up.

Both Tony Radford and Tony Jullings …Trummy…Craig…Alan…Barry who doubled with piano and vocals… gave their all …Steve played a number on his cornet.

Obviously there were many people missing no doubt because of this virus, so hope you are all ok, hopefully everything will run its course and we are able to carry on with the gigs as Alan said, one day at a time. we will try and keep you all informed if the gigs get cancelled, in the meantime, as I said catch your sneezes in a tissues wash hands well, and eat well, take care of yourselves. I miss hugs!!!!

Those who came along last night had a wonderful evening of very good music as I mentioned, and thank you all for those who dug even deeper for the raffle, one cannot get a good night like that for less than £5 so we are very lucky, hard to find the cash nowadays, but if we want to keep the band able to play each week (if the virus lets us) we need to dig deep. So again thank you.

Clover as always, happily collecting your money and lovely prizes, nice that some new folk managed to win a prize so hope they come again!!

Thank Kelly @ co, did a good job behind the bar, people were asking about Emily, she tells me she will be back next week. hopefully we all will be.

I did take some photos but have been busy so will have to add them later, of course Fudge has some good ones on her FB site so pop on there if you have the means. Tony did some videoing last evening think that will make a great DVD. I am hoping we can find out how we could put some on here, but that may be hard, one never knows. Watch this space !!!!

A few photos…

a serious Barry!

Sole Bay Jazz Band and guests…

A very different evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, with some of the Sole Bay Jazz Band and Guests…

I know all the players agree it was one of the oldest line ups we have had playing there, so thanks gentlemen a nice varied amount of music.

Nice to see Dave back on the drums again, Ray on piano…always a pleasure…Tony making the bass sing…Alan on guitar and banjo…Geoff on trumpet and some vocals…Derek saxophone.…clarinet…Barry on vocals…

A good crowd with some new faces, and a big thank you for all those who gave so generously to the raffle, I doubt if it had anything to do with my message from my last sole bay diary entry, but one or two people mentioned my plea!! as our audiences have been getting smaller, and we certainly do not want to lose our great talented band members. The raffle means a big deal and where can you get an evenings live band for less than a £5 so keep digging deep jazz fans to keep the party going…

Alan says he has a good line up ready for next week, so do come along…

Thanks Clover for doing the raffle, as always great prizes, and Duncan & Don for folding all those tickets.

Our Emily was away so our other young barmaid served us well…

Fudge has some good photos on her FB page, mine are not that good but will pop them on.
