Clover especially thanks to you.

The food was distributed round well… so well done to all who provided it.

Simon came along to sing for us and so happy to see that the family brought Sheila, we have missed her a lot, and like Tim said at the end,  a lot of lovely people were no longer with us and we all miss them, but also as he said nice to see some new fans have joined the Thursday evenings of Jazz so life goes on, and memories are always with us.

Chris came along and gave us a couple of vocals as well, always nice to hear him, and Roy did some songs also Tony P … Great playing as always from everyone… so thanks to all.

Heidi what a grand job you did behind that bar, thank you for your always smiling face, have a great Christmas with your lovely family.

Must also say a big thank you to my lovely tickets folders, could not do without you.

I would like to also wish all our people who are unwell, and to one especially hope all is going well, you know who you are.

Wishing all of our wonderful Players who have made our Thursday evenings so special, a great Christmas and Happy New Year…and we look forward to starting again in January…

Well done to Alan as well who gets the band together each week for our enjoyment. Not an easy job. See you all in January.

JAZZ AT THE HUB…

Last evening at Sheringham Theatre in the Hub, The Norfolk Jazz Quartet played to a full house.

Great company lovely music and a bonus with the Christmas lights that were shining brightly in the high street. Even if the wind and rain tried to spoil everything.

Thanks to everyone …what a lucky one I am to get to hear such talent. The videos I took not had time to get them on but they sound good to me. Will try and get them ready to go on here as soon as I can, they are rather too large at the moment have to compress them first.

Thanks Tim great night long journey but worth it.

A couple of photos to be getting on with. It is lovely with the changing lights in the background should have worn the black and white though… ha ha sorry Vic!

Sole Bay wow!

Thursday night at the Sports Pavilion proved as always to be good, but again this week have to say …amazing… as these talented musicians all played for us a really good programme, how very lucky we are as it was such a brilliant evening. Thanks to one and all.

A good crowd there to support these great musicians, thanks for all those who dug deep for the raffle once again, as without the support of the raffle Alan would not be able to get these line ups for us, and I know that other venues charge an entrance fee, but not there at the Pavilion …thanks also to Jon for contributing from the bar…so keep helping, also Tim and I are trying to get some good raffle prizes, as well as some folk donating items.

I am keeping some of those back ready for a big raffle on the 17th of December for our Christmas evening. Hopefully some who have not won will manage to win on that night! But of course the main thing is to support the band. Thanks as always to my raffle ticket folders! big hugs.

Some wonderful little pieces of solo playing from all the band, all great and some rather yummy drumming from Craig and string bass from Tony J who has hidden himself from me this week as well… Ray on the piano, and Trummy on trombone and 'arsonium' Tim and Ron when they play together it is magic…Alan woking hard at the back line and who gets these great musicians each week.

Thanks Heidi and Emma for looking after every one, nice smilie ladies…

So Sad…

I know all my blogger friends will be like me so shocked to hear about all the Paris shootings.

So a little prayer that all will calm down and all those poor people will find peace, although how they can be after that I do not know, however if all the red white and blue showing everywhere in sympathy I hope that the Paris people know we are all thinking of them…

We have had enough wars, especially something like this when innocent people who have done no harm are targeted by suicide bombers, Life is precious, pity they do not know that.

Sole Bay Jazz Band

Another different night at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, in more ways than one!

Good band, nice lot of musical magic, and some laughs…

Different as well as it seems all the tables and people seemed to have changed the room around, really strange, so the coven table had to move to the back, and we had several new folk coming along, Sheila was not there, so I took her seat to be near the raffle, actually nice to see the band instead of viewing the post from the side! so some of my lovely friends came and sat with me, where we proceeded to apparently upset the band, in the nicest way of course.

So a nice lots of laughs, but do hope we can get back to the normal seating next week as it did seems really weird. Know you will be pleased Fudge ha ha…

Thanks Clover for helping with the raffle, she has agreed to take  that on when I am unable to be there, thanks to all the raffle ticket folding! Nice prizes and thanks to those who help with goodies each week, building up for a good raffle at Christmas gig…so good to have a nice selection of people winning, thanks to everyone for digging deep as I say every week, without your help and Jon the band would not have such a nice venue to play each week, with talented musicians.

Lovely Heidi always smiling behind the bar! not sure if I said goodnight sorry…

Nice to see some fans returning after holidays and work, but also sad that some of the fans will no longer be with us only in spirit…  some fans are unwell, so wishing all good health and they can return to enjoy the live music.

A few photos… bit strange colour this week sorry…thanks Sole Bay for another night of live music…thanks also to Geoff who gave us a tune on the harmonica…

Bereavement

I have been asked to let you all know that sadly we have lost another great jazz fan.

John Garrard has lost his fight from his illness this week,  I feel we are all thinking of dear Marian and her family who have helped her husband through this.

John has been such a great fan of the Sole Bay Jazz Band (who send their regards to Marian) for many years, and of course other bands, we will all miss him.

Always a smile for me and a chat, what a lovely man, rest in peace dear John.

Sadly now we are all getting older this will happen, but seems so close to us, especially after the loss of Keith dear husband of Sheila a few weeks ago. So many of our dear friends have passed and some still ill and unable to come to jazz, but they are always in our thoughts, I am sure you agree.

But I am also sure like all of us who have lost loved ones, Marian will soldier on and hopefully return to jazz as soon as she is able.

No doubt Marian will let me know when the funeral is and we can go and pay our respects to this lovely man.

Sole Bay Jazz Band

Halloween at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham last evening, was fun with some really good live music and singing.

As they always do The Coven Table came into their own,  also allowed me to be part of the hat wearing , which proved to be a bit of fun, certainly managed to get a nice lot of raffle money for the band!

Which I will just mention here, that from next week, Tim and I will be managing the raffle, with of course the help from the folders and friends… Dear Keith was going to hand it over last Christmas but he did manage until the week before he left us all, (although he will always be there at the jazz), Simon has been carrying on, but the busy young man has now handed it over, thanks Simon for all you have done.  Tim and I will try to keep the books and the raffle going for everyone, and if I am unable to get there, we have a back up plan with a very nice lady who lives close, and I will gradually get her acclimatised to all your little raffle secrets over the coming weeks.

I must say a big thank you to those who do give prizes for the raffle and we look forward to that continuing in the future so that we can raise as much money to help Alan find  musicians that keep the band coming along each week to entertain us all.

Our thanks to Sheila who has donated the money which was outstanding to Keith, into the kitty for the future, so lovely to see her their each week, and long may it continue.

Such a nice friendly evening and the talkers stayed at the back ( unfortunately upsetting a few)… But a nice musical evening, with Simon giving us some good vocals as well as  Tony P…

A few photos from Simon (thanks) and me…The witches with Ian's head in the way ha ha,
Jean always closes her eyes! you were all great thank you…Looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos…

Heidi doing a grand job as always…Lovely evening with  friends thanks to all…

So glad to see a few of our (invalids) coming back also those who are still bandaged up, so sorry that some of the regular fans are still too poorly to come along, but I know they are thinking of us all, and we of them. Also one person to mention good luck to …one of our plucky men who has to face yet another operation, good luck …you know who you are, and we wish you well.
