Sole Bay Band …

Last evening at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, we were treated to yet another great night listening to such good music and vocals…

We are so lucky to have such talent every Thursday night, and amazing that it is different each week, (thanks Alan)

I must thank the band for turning out in that terrible weather, but also to say a huge thank you to all those regulars and new folk who came along and supported the band, I know you must have thought it worth it. I know I did…Thanks for digging deep for the raffle as well…

I hope everyone got home without mishap on those icy roads… Or indeed from the walk in the car park which caught a few folk out, very icy, must get Jon to put  salt and sand in future as us old ones are not as bouncy as the sports people who use the club!

We had such an array of singers …our Roy who is suffering still with that frog in his throat but still managed to sing to us…

Chris came along with his closed eyes and yummy vocals…

We also had the pleasure of a talented vocalist who sang us a couple of songs, he has a tribute band and sings Nat King Cole and my he is good…

Great playing from Tim…Ron… Clarinet and Saxophone duels great…Ray…some great piano as always…Craig… what a great night on the drums…Tony…as always amazing, and getting the bass over the car park! Alan…you looked as if you enjoyed it, thanks again…

Thanks Heidi for your smile as always…

I do hope all those who were under the weather manage to get better before next week…

To all those that did not come along, you missed a really good one!

Footwarmers…

Sunday lunchtime at the Beccles Conservative Club, the Footwarmers played up a storm with foot tapping music and singing…

Amazing as not one of them (or some of us who were there) were fit in health! but they managed to cheer everyone up with the fun they provided.

As always there is the post in the middle of the band so cannot get a decent photo of them altogether… but we had …Mike /Clarinet…Roy /Saxophone/vocals…Ian /Saxophone…
Dave /Drums…Bill/ Bass/vocals…Barbara /Banjo…Barry/ Keyboard/vocals…

Well done Roy for being the microphone stand!!

Not many smiles shown on the photos except for Dave! but they were happy really! just I never got a shot of them laughing!!!

Thanks for the company Peter I know how you love the jazz…

Sole Bay Happy Night…

What a great night of music at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham last evening…

The Sole Bay Band and Friends were  on top form, some rather different music that we had not heard for a while, and of course the wonderful skill of the musicians who made it so good on the ears.

A good crowd and some new faces, as well as some of the regulars, this bug thing has certainly taken its toll on us regulars, but glad to say I am at last have improving health, so hope all those who are suffering soon get better, lots of coughs  around last night, but the music cheered us up.

No vocals last night, but it certainly did not bother us as the musicians were, as I said, in full flow.

Lovely to see Tony J back again, take care with those eyes…Craig was replaced with Dave on the drums, who we all thought did a grand job, Alan feeling better as well, so he strummed away happily.
Bill as always thinking he is not up to playing with these musicians , which of course he is, and played really good trombone. Tim as always playing some great solos, and Ray leading the band with the trumpet last night had a great list of music and made sure everyone got into the mood, which they certainly did. We also had a visit from Mark Adams who is a fabulous bass player, some great playing on Tony's string bass!!! very nice thank you!

So thank you Sole Bay Band you made us all feel good.

Thanks to Heidi for working hard behind that bar with always a smile, and Fudge, thanks for being a friend!  Thanks to all my lovely friends who attend the jazz always good to chat to everyone, which of course I did last night as I was back on the raffle, thanks JJ for doing it for me while I was unable to. Also Keith for doing the hard work with the raffle while feeling ill, we appreciate it. of course to Jan who again drove us to the jazz, will miss you next week.

Get well soon to all those feeling ill and looking forward to next week line up which I will put on here when Alan sends it to me,  Alan works hard to bring us a good group of musicians each week to play for us so thanks Alan…

SOLE BAY JAZZ…

There may have been only 5 musicians plus one singer last night at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

But those there, I am sure will agree with me, that the music of these talented people was really really good… thank you Sole Bay for a great musical night…

Afraid a lot of us were under the weather, but oh so good to go out after being indoors feeling sorry for ourselves! well me anyway, and the music was soothing and worth the effort.

Also was so pleased to see a good crowd after the Christmas break…

Nice to have Mick with the band always a great player but lovely bass last night, Tony hope all goes well with the eye and see you back soon.

Alan had been unwell but played his banjo and guitar with gusto as always…

Trummy… the notes that man gets out of the trombone and the 'arsonium' as Tim calls it is pure amazing…

Craig lovely to hear some more great drumming, you know how much you were appreciated.

Simon you sang beautifully lots of feeling and so good to see hear you singing again…

Tim you always play well but you seem to be really enjoying the music last night, loved it all thank you everyone.

Thank you for the people who came up to me to buy the raffle tickets, did not think the old legs would have got round everyone, even if I did have to catch a few during the interval, we must  make sure we buy the raffle tickets, as it all helps to keep the live music going, so please as there is no entrance fee keep buying them, I hope to be back to fitness next week so you will not escape me!!!
Thanks to the 'folders' of the tickets as well… several people have suggested some new ways of collecting the raffle money and the ticket folding,  but think at the moment we will stick to the old routine, we have been doing it for 5 years now, but thanks anyway always good to have feed back…

Thanks as always to Keith who still is managing to do the raffle, and the books, keep well you and Sheila…

Heidi with her calm bar work and her great smile, always sure of a welcome from her.

So another year started, hope to see a nice crowd again next week, and that some of the regulars who were unable to attend this week, will be back again to hear the live music…
