FOOTWARMER FUN!

Sunday lunchtime at The Beccles Conservative Club  The Footwarmers Jazz and Blues Band played…(next month it will be 18th December) Must say the Club looked very festive getting ready for the December events to be held there.

A small crowd came along, but they certainly were treated to a lunchtime of live music with loads of fun. I intended to only stay a short time however could not tear myself away…

Starting off with just 5 players…Roy. Ian .Barry .Brian and Craig… later they were joined by Mike and then Nick…and Ivan played some piano…so lots of lovely noise.

A great solo on the drums by our Craig,  sorry band we requested that but we do not always have Craig to play! but you must admit it was very well received! everyone gave it their all, some great playing Ian 'gravel voice' gave us some lyrics as well as Barry and Roy and Stella sat watching and sung her way through it all even when Roy forgot his words ha ha, it is always good to have fun mixed in with live music.

Thanks Band …live music is so good and you all played great.

Always hard to take photos of the band with the post in the way but enjoy…

Sole Bay Jazz with friends…

Last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… the Sole Bay Jazz Band played a great night of music and loads of fun. Thank you Gentlemen…

A line up of 7 after last weeks 5 both evenings so enjoyable, louder this week but a good selection of upbeat music, hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did! Sitting at the front certainly is good and also cannot hear so much of the talking that goes on, sorry 'Charlie Boy' if I upset the plans by sitting at the front ha ha, but it is nice to see and hear the band. Nice company as well good to see Stella there as well as some of the folk who had been sick,  Fudge hurry up and get that arm better! however still a lot of regulars missing that are unwell so wishing them all the best and get better soon …some are on holiday as well, so hurry back and enjoy the live music.

Superb playing from all the band never seen fingers flying over notes strings and drums so fast!  and with the fun element it makes it all the more enjoyable.

Thanks Clover and Chris a good raffle considering the amount of people there. Hope your back soon gets better Heidi you still did a grand job.

Took a few photos could not get all the band in at once…But hope it gives those who could not be there how good it was.

Well done Tony nice pose!

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

Well this Thursday evening, with bad weather and only five of the Sole Bay playing, I did  not expect the good turnout of people …at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…it was so great to see so many there, and they certainly had a treat.

Tim, Trummy ,Craig, Alan and Tony all had to play hard and fast, some great tunes and they all looked as though they really enjoyed playing…but what a sound …called them the Fab Five as it was a pleasure. Thanks also to Barry who came to sing a couple of vocals for us in the second half…

Of course we did pinch the best seats in the house, great to be able to sit in front now I do not do the raffle, nice company as well…

Thanks to Clover and Chris as they did a great raffle, and Heidi behind that bar.

Sorry that some of the regular fans were sick so could not be there, hope by next week you will all have recovered.

Hope all of those on holiday are having fun, you missed a good night of live music and fun, thanks Sole Bay.

Camera was getting short of battery but managed a few photos…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

Last night at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, The Sole Bay Jazz Band, gave us a great evening of live music…

Was sad to see that we were about half full, so maybe illness or something else going on, but besides missing a really great night of talented music and fun, hope that it does not happen too often …you know what they say 'if you do not use it you will lose it', so come on regulars support live music on a Thursday night please. we have been there 5 years now and it was the lowest attendance so make up for it next week!

However  those of us who did attend had a good night, everyone in the band seemed to be on top of their game and lots of great music.

June Les and I sat at the front table so that was good, could see and hear everything, and great company over there, sorry boys did miss you over the other side though.

Tim, Derek, Tony P (with a rotten cold well done for playing so well) Tony J, Alan, and Craig, goodness those drums were buzzing.

I was pleased that without any vocals (Tony voice gone!) I asked Tim if Barry could sing, and I am very pleased to say he did very well and the applause decided it was a good choice, well done Barry, know how open you feel without your keyboard in front of you! First time with the Sole Bay hope it will not be the last.

Clover and Chris did a good job with the raffle, will be a bit lean this week but the raffle prizes were great, so thanks to you both, Heidi great as always, such good friends so a lovely evening.

A few photos…The lights do not like my camera!

SOLE BAY JAZZ BAND WITH FRIENDS…

This Thursday evening the 3rd of November at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham The Sole Bay Jazz Band and Friends pulled a real firework out of the bag!

It is 5 years now since we have been at The Pavilion, thanks Jon for taking the band in. What great live music we have had over the years.

A good crowd came along to support these talented gentlemen and had a real treat, obviously the band with guests are always good, but last evening it was like a mini orchestra !!

Tim heading the band on Baritone/Sax/Clarinet with a lot of fun chat …nice to see all the smiles…Ron Hockett Sax/Clarinet brilliant as always…Trummy Mayhew with that many noted Trombone, whoops and no Arsonium! Ray Simmons fingers flying on those piano keys…Alan Guitar/Banjo even without his trusted computer had to go back to the chord book first half and took a lot of stick! all in fun though…Tony Jullings our Professor on the String Bass, must give a special mention of Ron West our very talented sit in Drummer wow what great drumming appreciated by one and all…
Thank you so much gentlemen…By the way Ron Hockett will be with us again in two weeks we have to make the most of him before he returns to the US.

Thanks to Clover and Chris for doing the raffle…Heidi as always smiling…Great to see Fudge back again even with a broken arm, glad you did not miss the after party at the Beer Festival after all that hard work!

So good to see Simon, Sheila and Kim back again, and oh Simon what a great night to see you walking so well and taking videos, we all know how hard it is for you but gold star for keeping up the good work, pushing hard to get back to us hearing that voice again.

Such a lovely lot of friendly folk at the Jazz, I do not get the chance to talk to you all now I do not do the raffle but still nice to see you.

It was hard to get around because of all the video cameras  there will still be some strange images passing in front of cameras and to see Heidi trying to get past doubled up and poor Fudge with that arm in plaster trying to dodge being on film!!!!! Still will be great music on the videos that is for sure.

Did not get a photo of all the band together but got a few shots…

Just to add if anyone knows how "Bob at the Bar" is can you let me know we miss him…

Farewell to Don…

Today the two Janet's and me went to say farewell to our friend Don Friston, a very nice little celebration of his life, good to see some 'jazzers' there amongst all his many friends… and great to hear When the Saints Come Marching in when the coffin was carried in, and a bit of Louis Armstrong  Wonderful World on the way out.

I cannot remember such a lovely man always the gentleman and even with all the suffering in the past years pushing himself as often as he could to come to his loved Jazz, he will be greatly missed, he could always find a different piece of jazz music for the Sole Bay to play.

Hope you are up there with all the old jazzers Don.

Loved the little poem…
If I should go before the rest of you
Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone
Nor when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice
But be the usual selves that I have known
Weep if you must
Parting is hell
But life goes on
So sing as well.
