Sole Bay Jazz Band and friends…

Well I must say that was a hot night in many ways… Have to thank the band for some really great playing in the sauna heat that was there last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

Incredible really how they managed to keep going and as I said some terrific playing, Derek had his big book with him and they choose some rather good different tunes to play…well done to you all.

Sadly again not many people turned up but suppose the heat, holidays and ill health kept some away, but you missed a good night of live music.

Thanks to Clover and Christine for the raffle another good one, thanks to the 'boys for folding the tickets, and a big thank you to all who were there for again digging deep to help get these fine musicians every week.

Next week we will be having a different line up as well as our great back line so look in and see early next week.

Fudge took a great photo on FB but hope you enjoy the few I took…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

A very pleasant evening of live music at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… with the Sole Bay Jazz Band…

The great back line always so easy to listen to with Tony, Craig and Alan… last night it was Tim…Trummy and Ray giving out some really good music at the front…

As always a nice crowd but very very small, such a shame when the band is so talented and not many turn up to listen, but guess everyone was busy … however those of us who were there enjoyed ourselves and hope the band did not mind that we were such a few…We made a nice lot of clapping though…

For those who are not well we wish you a speedy recovery…so many nasty bites and allergies going about at the moment, Fudge still struggling with that horrible horse fly bite, but good she manages to get to jazz…and us who will get in the garden to sort the shrubs out and get scratched badly should know better……sore legs still after all that hard work no idea why the roses hate me! I am only trying to give them a chance until the rain comes!!

Also a little 'get better soon' to Simon Denny just as he was getting back to singing he has had a very bad allergic reaction to some garden plants and landed up in JPH again…We want you back for a song or two as soon as you can Simon.

So good to see Roy popping in well done to him making sure the illness will not stop him from the Sole Bay…and my friend June good to see you back again…Missed my Jan though…

Thanks to our lovely barmaid who's name I cannot remember, lovely smiling face looking after us while Emily is away…Oh and you Jon of course…

Thanks as always to Clover and Christine for the raffle, well done… and the boys for folding the tickets… Also Colin thank you for your raffle prize you are a star to give me that, I will bake again when the weather gets better!!!!

So many lovely friends who come along each week to support the band it is always a pleasure to meet you all  each week.

A couple of photos…Nice shirt Tim…Fudge has a good one on the FB Sole Bay Jazz…

The Chorus of St Cecilia…

Once again I have been spoilt by my Sister in law Jan …Niece Elizabeth and her hubby James…

Elizabeth, as I have probably said on my posts about the choir that she used to sing in it and has always been a pleasure to go and see them singing either with just the choir or at musicals and more…now James is in the choir and sounding really good as well…

Last evening he took us to Winterton Church where they hold a Summer Concert…Great church and packed full! where we all enjoyed a wonderful night of beautiful singing…With of course some of the juniors oh they are so sweet and very talented…Starting off with Gloria by Vivaldi it was so moving then the juniors sang All things Bright and Beautiful…Followed by them singing The Owls.

Some Lloyd Webber songs during the evening with Wishing You Were …Somewhere Here Again with Hannah Hall soloist who not only sang like an angel she looked gorgeous made the hairs stand up on the back of ones neck…she also sang With You later… Philip Pearson sang Music of the Night…also From Now On with the Choir in dancing mood!

We had a South Pacific Medley which is always entertaining… Schubert …Ava Maria …Cohens Halleluja and many more…

A new song written by a local person called The Truelove about a fishing vessel very very moving and just right as the Church has fishing nets on some of the walls so really in keeping…So many more plus those super youngsters singing Where is Love…A Spoonful Of Sugar…Scarbough Fair…

Three men  of the Choir sang Bring Him Home which we all love and the harmonies were superb…

I must mention the wonderful pianist who also sang, he is so talented.

The Chorus ended with Cantate Domino and You'll Never Walk alone… of course to a standing ovation, what more could you want to end the evening…During which two very nice gentlemen served wine… and juices for everyone, and a little giggle as the Church does not have an indoor loo so a porttaloo was well attended……luckily it was a beautiful evening……

Thanks to my lovely family for taking me and for Elizabeth and James for doing a duet in the car on the way home which was so nice…oh yes and the chips which were yummy even if rather late in the evening.

Lucky me xx

Sole Bay Jazz Band and Friends…

Thursday night the 12th July at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…with the Sole Bay Jazz Band and guests proved to be a very good evening indeed.

Always a gamble on how many will come along with all the holidays and sports on TV but a good crowd did turn up even though lots of empty seats, however those who were there were glad they did …as it was a rather nice evening.

Amazing how many lovely jazz numbers there are, and they were well played.
Nice to see the Baritone Sax come out again Tim… and lovely that Bill seems to be well at home on that trombone, and Derek how at the age he is has so much puff is great. Alan and Tony always a treat, and thanks Gary for standing in for Craig. Then after the break along came Tim's friend John Parker who he sometimes plays in a band with from Ipswich with his Martin jazz guitar and added an even better depth to the second half. You all know how I love the guitar. so all in all well done Sole Bay…

Thanks Clover and Christine for another great raffle, and the boys for folding those tickets, and a huge thank you all for digging deep with supporting the band.

Nice to see Emily back behind the bar, thanks for your help Emily…always a lovely smile, and a really nice surprise that our Heidi came along for most of the evening so good to see her again.

Fudge hope you take care of that nasty bite…Maybe tights while running may be an idea…

This Saturday would have been Keith Denny's birthday, miss you Keith but know you are looking down and keeping an eye on me and the others… so sending our love to our Sheila we miss you seeing you at jazz.
In fact we miss a lot of those who have passed through, we never will forget any of you who have followed the band. So sad sometimes to see those empty seats.

A few photos Fudge had a good one of the band on FB as well.

Sole Bay Jazz Band fun night…

A great evening of good old fashioned jazz last night at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham with the Sole Bay Jazz Band and Friends…

It was non stop music and fun some great vocals as well as really good jazz. Even though it was very hot the band did well. we did have the doors open, (those who said they were cold …sorry …you could have moved and no one should sit in front of the fire doors) the band needed the air as they worked hard.

Not many folk there, but those of us who did leave the TV Tennis and Football and came along had a good evening of live music.

For those who were unwell hope you are soon recovered.

Thanks Clover and Christine for the raffle another good one, and the boys for the ticket folding.

A few photos Fudge has a good one on FB as I did not get the whole group.
