Sunrise

There are a lot of night walking cats in the neighbourhood since new folk moved this way and they are not very nice, as my cat is rather old they like to come and fight him, so have to keep the cat flap locked at night, and get a nudge when nature calls to let him out!! mmm half asleep at about 4am soon got the camera out as the sky was worth getting up to see…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

What a great night of live music at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham last evening…

Our super line up entertained us with some real mood music, and it was very very enjoyable by the applause and whistles that went on.

Thank you to our six talented musicians who entertained a lovely large crowd of fans, it was great…

Some fun as well always a pleasure to see the band enjoying themselves as well as us…Also some wonderful duets on the clarinets and saxophones from Tim and Ron, as always fingers Ray on the Piano, and our intrepid three backing boys who keep the beat going. How lucky are we…

Thanks for digging deep as usual for the raffle, seems to provide a nice interlude, and nice that the prizes get spread around, also as always thanks to my lovely raffle ticket folders, and of course our furniture removal ladies that set the hall up for us… We are so lucky to have our little Club of fans that come every week to support the musicians.

Thanks Heidi hope you have a good holiday we will miss you, but expect Jon will have found us someone to cater for the thirsty crowd… Also Fudge and Jess who are off to Scout Camp, mmm that sounds good!!!

So good to see some of our rather ill fans turning up …we all wish them well and long may they come along … big hugs Don loved your choice of requests as always…maybe soon Simon will be recovered enough to come and sing again wishing him all the very best from all of us and keep fighting Simon. Love to Sheila as well what a lot our lovely Denny family have had of late, but hoping soon things will start to improve …miss you…

A few photos of our talented six…Really should try a bit harder to concentrate on taking photos am too busy moving to the music beat, note to self …must try harder…

What energy and fun these lads have …all ages and always smiling and making the audience enjoy every minute of their playing and singing, wonderful talent and a good crowd as always at the Pavilion, well done Keith for again providing us with a lovely evening out, always pleasant staff and good food …great bar… lovely to meet up with friends as well.

Some of the photos are not great because I was not close enough some times for my little camera but glad managed to creep to the front and get a photo of them all in the end.

I did a couple of bits of videos hopefully to show Pete's relation as she could not come with us, so if any good may even pop on here.

But thanks to one and all… no wonder you have so many people want to hear you play, talented and great fun … roll on the next one.

Roys band at the Pavilion…

Last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, Roy and his band of merry men played for us while the Sole Bay had  a break…

Well done to you all, so sorry not many people came along to support the band, however those who did I hope enjoyed something different.

Thank you everyone who did come to the live music and  dug deep for the raffle, also those who helped me by bringing some gifts much appreciated. Of course thanks to my raffle folders as always. and for our ladies who get the room set up. Heidi smiling as always, after her day of being a Mum with children that changed schools, it is hard when they grow so fast isn't it Heidi.

We had some different music last night, a mixture of jazz blues etc…and a lot of singers! Lovely to see Jenny being brave and stepping up, and apart from the band who nearly all sang, a young lady called Hannah came along and sang as well.  I did not feel there was so much fun and Romping Roy between the band as there usually is but it was hot …but still some great playing, so well done to all.

A few photos, and Barry let me have your e mail so I can send the photos, still not as good as the one I took before! but the hat is different!!!! Also Fudge took a good photo will pop it on if she sends it to me.

Next week we should have The Sole Bay Jazz Band back so please come along and support the live music, as you know if you don't you will lose it.

Jazz Friends…

I just want to put a little tribute on here… to say how wonderful the world of jazz is!

Our dear friend Peter Parr sadly departed this earth and Tuesday afternoon his family and some  jazz friends went to say farewell to him.

Some of the Sole Bay gentlemen played him into the crematorium with "When the Saints go marching in" Just hope he was looking down and enjoying it as he had loved his jazz for over 40 years.

A different type of funeral more a thanksgiving for Peters life. Some nice words spoken so we all remembered Peter with a smile because he had a great life.  with two songs from his favourite singer Lesley as well.

Thanks to one and all …the family and friends… the wake with the Sole Bay playing some wonderful music also  thanks to the family who provided some refreshments for us, on such a boiling hot day…Also for  those photographs that were shown around we all had some great memories…

Thank you Roy for taking us so we did not get lost!

Happy days Peter you will be sadly missed by us all…And of course so will the blue tit… unless you took it with you as it no longer taps on the window? those who knew Peter will know what I am talking about…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

Last night the 14th July at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, yet another night of live music was enjoyed by a good crowd to support the band.

A different evening with a drummer we have had before who did  great job standing in for our Craig, thank you all for giving us some great music, even though some of the members were under the weather very  good for them to come along and play for us, nothing like Live music.

I was sorry that some fans seem to  have decided to miss out because they were asked to talk more quietly several weeks ago, but it is a jazz night, and most of us although we like to chat, do not so  for long at a time,  you have been missing some great jazz! But we had a great crowd in the Club as Tim called it last night lovely to see a few new people as always.

It was also very nice to see our Denny family there again, it would have been Keith's birthday and although they have been through such a lot recently they always come up trumps and put a brave face on their problems, so great to see you all. Love giving Sheila a hug , and she got a nice lot last evening…sorry still some bad things to get over but come again soon we love you all. Well done Simon to not let the stroke stop you, hopefully although the journey may be longer than you would like  you have great support from Kim you will be back singing for us again in the future and we hold you to that!

One of our lovely members had some sad news, sorry to hear that you cannot fight that damn cancer anymore Don but what a journey you have made such a brave and lovely man, I do hope the time you have left ( hope it will not be too painful ) you will be able to still come along and enjoy the music while you can, a real trouper I have no idea how you managed 12 years of this hell, but thank you for talking about it, giving others hope.

Thanks as always to my raffle ticket folders what would I do without you…Thanks to all those lovely people who bring prizes along to help, and of course for digging deep. We did do well this week thanks to one and all, looked like a shop with all the prizes, and nice that they seem to be won around the room. Heidi as always looking after us all, and of course our local ladies moving furniture around and keeping us smiling, so good to have friends that gather together to hear live music.

It was a bright night for photos look at that colour! Thanks guys well done.

Next week we have the pleasure of Roy and his Band, while the Sole Bay have other commitments …details later…

Live Music with The Sole Bay Jazz Band…

Certainly was a good night at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, with some very talented musicians to entertain us all.

A nice crowd to support the band…We had some favourite music and some new tunes with vocals and audience participation … Hope no one outside wondered who it was with 'no clothes on'..........

Thanks as always for digging deep for the raffle which helps to support the live music each week, and for those who always bring extra prizes thank you, we did have a rather good raffle this week to try and tempt more money from you all! and nice that the prizes were spread about the room. Again thank you to my raffle ticket folders a grand job as always.

Lovely friendly crowd even though there were a few on holiday also lots of sport on TV …which we were kept abreast off thanks to technology! … some with illness, we miss you all so get well soon for those who were to unwell to attend, you missed a good night, even though it was very warm evening …such strange weather we are having this year, but the band played on through the heat, although nice to have the doors open even if a few moths came to attend!.

Heidi as always lovely smiles. Thanks Sole Bay as always great live music.

Nice of the band to play dear Peter a Happy Birthday …90 years young, been coming to jazz a long time.

We sadly lost our other Peter Parr and his funeral will be on Tuesday July 19th service starts at 1.20pm at The Gorleston Crem… Some of the Sole Bay Jazz band will be playing him on his way as he had been a loyal fan for over 40 years, also they will play for a while at The Dock Tavern Gorleston at the wake. so if you wish to say a fond farewell to him please do come and join us.

Whilst on the subject of losing people, I am so sorry that another wonderful Denny has been taken from us …Martin has been suffering for a long time with cancer, and a night ago passed away, gone to join his Dad, our dear Keith, it would have been Keith's birthday on the 14th July, maybe some of the Denny family will be able to come along to join us, and have some good memories at his sad time. Because I feel Keith is always there in spirit every week.

A few photos, and Dave have tried to get the idea at your suggestion how did I do?? a bit grainy on one…

Peregrine…

Could not resist this screen grab this morning, our lovely Male Peregrine looking so cute and rested after his marathon single parent feeding of his chicks, however although the new female killed two of the chicks the other two were taken into care and am pleased to say they are doing well.

Some really great music and vocals thanks to all the band …nice crowd cheering them on as well.

A few photos always a problem that our Bill is so tall and the tent is so low! so he has to bend down for me to take his photo. nice smile Liz and congratulations on your exams results.

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

A really pleasant and enjoyable evening of live music at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

A nice mix of sounds and some vocals, nice lot of fun with some of the lyrics and Tim seemed to have his clever hat on with some of the remarks.

Great company, although I know there were a lot of Sport on the TV and the Norfolk Show, but what a lot of the regulars missing, however those of us that supported the band had a good time, nice raffle, so thanks as always for the raffle ticket folders, next time Colin do not fold your own in! Thanks Heidi hard work for you… the band and us …in the close weather however all in all a good night. Thanks Sole Bay…

A little Owl caused a nice lot of fun you know what it is like when one person starts looking out the window everyone follows…

A few photos…Nice colours last night very bright…

One sad part one of our own lovely jazz fans died in the past week,…Peter Parr …Tim announced it and I am sorry for those I had not already told, it must have been a shock, Peter had followed the band for about 40 years, and hopefully when the funeral is announced some of the Sole Bay will play for him at the funeral.

For all the fallen, a very apt photo from my garden this morning…including the bee…
