Olympic Celebration

Last night the Rookery Park Golf Club hosted an end of Olympic Celebration night.
A Family Event…

Lots of young children all interested with sport, and especially as young Olympic  Medalist Anthony Ogogo attended for a short while to pose for photos and to thank the local people for all the support they have given him.

Must say my photos are not good but what a very nice young man he is, he comes across as a humble young man and we all wish him well in the future.

One of the men who carried the torch helped to organize the event and he had the torch and some Olympic clothing with him. Which people were pleased to see, the Olympics have done a lot for getting the youngsters interested in sport…

A good night …thanks for coming with me Jan  also June and friends for the company…

So sad that there was not a lot of light about when I took
this one but if you click on it, it does improve…

This one with his  medal
lots of people had their photos taken with
Anthony…

Playing to entertain us all Rhythm and Reeds…

Roy and Amanda singing for us…

Having fun…Have a good holiday Barry loved the singing as always…

Then came more great Jazz!

Every week I try to write a report about the Sole Bay Jazz Band, sometimes I get over excited about the line up sometimes I do not, but of late every single week seems to bring more delight from the Gentlemen… and our new venue (we have nearly been there a year!) has proven to be just the ticket.

Thank you Jon…Marilyn…and Heidi…who always look after us…

I will have to post a few photos this week as got snap happy!

Tony…Tim…Craig…Allan…
Alan…Dick…
Tim with his special saxophone back again …
Tony playing some finger picking good music…
A special instrument…and played really well

The evening was very different once again and "Lord Arsenal" certainly was a pleasure to meet and he sings as well!

Our smilie Craig with some very special drumming…
you are great Craig…as you could tell from the applause!

This is a trial photo thanks to Neil a good idea must decide how to get it right,

Roy gave us some good numbers with some great antics thrown in!
hope you did not do any damage Roy!

Tony on his magic bass…

Alan beating it up …
Alan nice to see you smiling a lot as well…

So you can see everyone had a good time… It is good when the band get such good feed back from the audience as this makes it more enjoyable for them and they really appreciate it, and  thanks Allan we all had to join in and sing… very clever! I must say what a great crowd we had last night, lots of our regulars and some newbies who have found us, some through the blog which I am always grateful to know, as cannot be seen to be talking to myself all the time…Good job you comment Sandy!

Looking forward to hearing from Alan to see what is in store for us next Thursday.

SOLE BAY JAZZ…

Rather late this week with my report of the Sole Bay on Thursday night, but here goes…

Another great night of live jazz music and some really nice vocals, but a very small audience, however those of us there managed to make sure the band realized we appreciated it all…

Did not manage the band as a whole but a few photos…Tim and a little pic of TonyJ…
and then Tony P and Barbara…
Derek…managed ot get Neil on this one as well…

As I have mentioned a smaller amount of people but a lot are on holiday this time of the year, they missed a really musical evening…but hope we will see a lot more next Thursday.

Jon hope you did not really mean it was my fault! ha ha, Heidi you always cheer us up with your smile.

Sheila I know Keith will show you this so I will tell you I think you are such a brave wonderful lady and the news so far seems very good so all our prayers are winging your way to make sure you are soon back among us all at the jazz, as I told Keith just about everyone at the jazz wanted to know how you were so they will be pleased to read this. Sending love to Suzie and Julie who I know are taking good care of you.

I await news from Alan for next weeks line up …

Day Out!

Yesterday I went with my sister in law on our coach trip with lots of friends who I used to work with, we go twice a year to Bury St Edmunds, and always have a good day out.

We all say hello and suppose we look also to see if anyone has changed much, and sorry to say a lot of dear friends are no longer able to go on the trips, but it is so good to know that after all these years we may look different on the outside but inside we are still those young printing works people who clocked in at 7.45 and out at 5.45.

The Cathedral Gardens are always our end of the day visit and they never fail to to please…

I did not take photos of the hanging baskets but thank goodness this year the health and safety people were not going to stop this lovely town putting their wonderful show of hanging baskets up. last year we missed them but this year they are spectacular …
Such great gardeners spend a lot of time on these gardens and the amount of people that visit must be a reward for them as well as the pleasure it gives to many people…
What a good day out thanks to all my fellow travel companions roll on next year.

PARADE…

This afternoon I sat, as I am sure many others did to watch the parade to celebrate the Olympics and Paralympics…All the athletes that took part and the many people that made it possible…
Great Lions …bet the people in them were tired by the time they reached Buckingham Palace…
Some of the crowd which were lining the streets of London Town…
The Gold statue welcoming the Golden athletes…

The Red Arrows finishing the parade…
I do hope the great feeling that both games have brought to this country continues in the future… it will certainly get some of the children who have been sitting in front of the TV to get out and get into sport… well done to all.

SOUTHWOLD EVENING

My sister in law Jan (Happy Birthday Jan) took me to Southwold yesterday evening…

We love to go and eat fish and chips on the common when we can with the seagulls looking on hoping we are not going to finish the chips!…it was so busy a few weeks ago we could not even park, but we were lucky last night…

We then go for a walk from there to the pier which is a nice walk, lots of folk still about, plenty of Adnams being drunk by locals!

While we were sitting on the seat watching the world go by the sky was wonderful so here are a few shots from our walk…
It was like a rainbow glad it came out …
Have to have a photo of the lighthouse…
When we got back to the common the sky was gorgeous…
Walked a little further round…
I hope it comes across at least a little like it was…
This was how it ended up by the time we got home to Beccles…

Forgot this one of the pier we did go on it and had a yummy cup of coffee!

Thanks Jan for a great time lets do it again soon please…

Happy Birthday to a lovely lady who looks after a lot of people and never thinks about herself the world needs a lot more like you Jan.

Do not forget you can click on the photos to bring them up larger!

Ron…Craig…Ray…Alan…Tim missed Tony again, but his swing bass certainly was there…

Missed Craig and Tony off this one… what a photographer… however got Simon!

Got you this time Tony, whoops and Craig has turned into Dave who sat in on a couple of numbers…

How about this one Simon for your album?

Thank you Sole Bay it was a delight last night as no doubt you realized by the applause…
What a great crowd of people coming to support the band …nice to see even more new faces…as well as the regular crowd who are so supportive of the band and I know how much they love playing for us all.

Thanks as always to Heidi such a pleasure always smiling and coping with our needs, and Jon hope you are still happy you choose to have the Sole Bay at the Pavilion a lovely venue for us all.

I just want to add a personal wish…Sheila you know my dear how much we all think of you and I will be praying for your safe return after your operation, Keith you know as well we are there for you.
