SOLE BAY JAZZ LINE UP…

Good night of music rather too loud from where I was sitting, but no one wanted to turn it down! So sorry if I had to keep finger in ear ha ha.

Great to see Bill Skinner again and his friend John who did some drumming…Maybe Bill may get that saxophone out one of these days for us again.

Thanks Clover and Chris for the raffle and the donations that people offer all help the cause.
And the 'boys' for the folding of tickets!

Unfortunately no lemons for the drinks and the coffee ran out…but it did nto seem to matter to the beer drinkers!!!
However it was live music and quite a good crowd.

I expect most of you know that Fudge has started a Sole Bay Jazz group on Face Book, I hope those who feel they cannot comment on my blog will do so on her group, if it keeps the ball rolling to let people know that the live music is there. I will however still be doing my blog diary to let you know who is playing for those who do not 'do' FB.

The Chorus of St Cecilia

Last evening I was very spoilt again by Jan my sister in law, and  my niece Elizabeth, who with  the wonderful voices of the St Cecilia Choir at the Pavilion Theatre Gorleston…I enjoyed a great evening of live theatre…

Called 'Glorious Broadway' it certainly was glorious, just like a West End Show… I have seen them a few times in the past when Elizabeth used to sing with the choir, but they outdid themselves last night.

Matthew Hardy the musical director in charge as always …even after suffering an illness before Christmas…, has come back with a bang. The pianist Chris … bass player Alison and the drummer Les were so good and I was near enough to watch the pianist play, although with the wonderful Chorus and the Junior Choir with some of their lovely voices of the soloists  I did not know where to look everyone was first class, the setting and costumes just perfect, and one of the little lads who I could not take my eyes off, a little mischief of a face so young and a beautiful voice as all the juniors were.

A packed audience who appreciated everything, you could hear a pin drop in some of the sadder songs, and the applause was deafening …

We heard songs from Cabaret…Annie…Oliver…Les Miserables…Miss Saigon…Top Hat…Matilda…Guys and Dolls…

All beautifully dressed in different costumes the singers looked amazing and added to the feel of the show.

Apart from when tears came at some of the wonderful lyrics the smile did not leave my face, I was actually enthralled with everything. Sorry for those behind as could not keep still, had to go with the music it was so catchy, although I think I held my breath through 'empty chairs and tables"

I think they are fully booked for the next 3 nights, but if you get a chance to see and hear the Choir at any time do go and see them. Although I think they out did themselves last evening so very well done to them dedication personified…

Thanks Jan and Elizabeth for a wonderful evening…

Night out!

At the Conservative Club last evening…a night with Rob Charles a really good entertainer and great voice… had the really good crowd singing and dancing from the start.

Great to meet up with such good friends and nice to see a lot of new people now joining the Club, it is a good venue and the members work hard to provide entertainment.

We had sausage and chips from the Worlingham chip shop, something different and certainly very tasty, wish I had taken a photo of them but was too busy eating them!

A good raffle was had and nice to see the upstairs bar open well done Brian good to see you singing along as well.

I spent a lot of time down the club when my hubby was alive also worked there for a few years, but of course have not wanted to go to many 'do's' on my own, although do attend the Jazz on Sunday once a month…but the welcome I got last evening has changed my mind as friends are always there, so thanks to everyone, and Jan for coming with me, and for the dance John.

Roll on the next one…

Not like me but forgot to take photos, too busy singing along, but did manage a couple…a bit dark and his name is Rob not ob! I was not drunk ha ha…
