Footwarmers 29th September

What a great Sunday Lunchtime Jazz Session!

Thank you Footwarmers Plus!

David has taken several videos, and until he has time to download them and put them on u tube, I will try and add some, as soon as I can… to put on here.

I did a couple  as well which I will try and sort out, but hopefully as there were many of David's , I am not sure which to load here. so just enjoy the music…

Line up was…Mike…Ray…Tony P…Dave…Tony J…Barbara…Bill…

Plus some numbers from Nick on Saxophone, and also our Ian on Sax…
Really very very good and the crowd so enjoyed it,
because the band was having so much fun so did we all!

Now this next one is mine, and I did miss the start, and it wanders a but as I was just holding the camera without a tripod…… just listen!

Enjoy I hope…Please know  that Tony is singing in Russian! it is not my video…

It will give those who did not fill in the EDP form a chance to help …hint hint…

Congratulations…

Jon has asked me to thank all our lovely jazz fans who sent in their EDP forms to help him get a grant for the cricket pitch and changing rooms , so that the youngsters at the Sports Pavillion can have more facilities…

It is so good that there are people who care about the youngsters of today, as when I was young we could wander anywhere safely, and lots of places to play and do sport, in fact I sometimes look back and wonder what Health and Safety would say if, what we got up to in the past was done nowadays, but we were lucky and had 2 cinemas in the town that did us proud. We could wander over the common without getting hit with a golf ball as well! Walk in the streets in the dark without having to worry… Not so many cars so we could play in the street as well…But it was just after the war I suppose and a different world then.

So it is good that there are people and places that help the youngsters of today, because of the different world that is nowadays, too much violence and pressure for them , so to be able to have people who care is a great thing, in this little part of our Country…

This morning he has found out he has got the grant, so thanks to you all, glad I pestered you!

Well done Jon and Marilyn you do a grand job…

Southwold beckoned!

Yes indeed, this lunchtime having done the  food shopping… I had a text from Jan to say 'how about Southwold'…

No need for a second bidding! I drove up to hers, and got in her car and off we went…

Well we are single …alone and older, done our share of hard work…so nice to do something on the spur of the moment.

Firstly made our way to 'Mark's' fish and chip shop, 'cod and chips' which we took on the common and sat and ate them, very yummy…'common' but we did eat them with fish knives and forks!ha ha Then we walked down to the pier, where we had an expensive but very lovely rhubarb and ginger ice cream…sat on the pier and ate that…

A nice walk back through town and a browse in the Amber Shop… then on to the common and picked blackberries… took them back to the car and left our coats, (sunshine lovely) off to Adnams Cafe to have a cup of tea and a slice of carrot cake! Sitting in the sunshine…

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday afternoon!

Of course the usual photo of the lighthouse…

A view from the common…

we spotted a lot of sparrows in the hedge, but of course they mostly flew away as we came along…

SOLE BAY JAZZ BAND…

Well I did say on the blog that they were going to be a small band of players, and talented, and what we had was another brilliant night of Jazz with a different flavour, it was so good, thank you everyone a pleasure to listen to.

We also had Jenny to sing, and in the second half Roy gave us a couple of songs, and even Mel on the Banjo, (come again soon Mel) he gave us a little ditty with an Ipswich turn!!!

Photos not to good but at least you can see our happy band of players.

Lovely to see such a good crowd as well…

Another Goodwood…

Dawn just sent me this on e mail… a photo she took of my 'boys' on their day at Goodwood Revival…

So as I have not got a printer thought I would post it on my blog so I can look at it and wonder where the years have gone!!

David as a Mechanic and Phil as an RAF pilot! They hated it when they were small because I used to dress them alike, now of course they would not dream of wearing anything alike!

Think their Dad would have been as proud of them as I am…Even if they now treat me as the child and them the parents!

Goodwood…

Liked this one of Laurel and Hardy eyeing up the lady!

Nice car… so many people make a good effort with the dressing up, some of the Dad's Army lookalikes are really good…

Jazz at the Pavilion

Another night of Jazz with the Sole Bay Jazz and friends…

A quieter night than a while, not so many people, ( but that could have been about me putting that we had a shortage of chairs sorry…) !!!! Hopefully not, so lots of chairs last night, but those who were there, enjoyed another evening of live music,  lots of singing as well, as Tony always gives us some good jazz songs, also Jenny gave us a couple of very nice vocals, and of course Romping Roy as usual giving us some fun songs.

A different mix once again, as it is every week, and glad to say by the end of the evening a few more people came in to listen, (mind you did not catch them for the raffle naughty folks, we need your support so come early next time) !!!!!

Afraid the photos are not good either, I better get some advice on my camera! Or stop and think before taking them. You were all spread too far apart, you will have to get more cosy next week!

sorry Tim you look like you have a square halo! and Tony, my fault…

A serious band!
As I have said seemed a gentle line up of music, but of course very thrilled that we are able to have such talent each week, the photos seemed to have picked up a serious band.

Great playing as always from these talented musicians, a nice bit of magic from the  drums with Craig back again, and Ray on the Piano, the two Tony's as well giving their all, Alan, Tim and Derek as always keeping it all going…

Lovely venue and lots of friends, which reminds me, our Les, has worked it out that on the 10th of October it will be the 100th week of gigs at the Pavilion, so that must be a very special evening. make a note in your diaries…

Good luck Jon on the bid for some lottery money for the Pavilion, you do a grand job there. Hope you all got your EDP newspaper forms filled in…

Another reminder…

Hello all you folk who like to help!!!!!

This is what Jon is hoping to do at Ditchingham Sports Centre with all your help…

The Bungay & District Sports Association is one of the 22 community groups shortlisted in the Big EDP Lottery Fund £250,000 give away.

The B&DSA have applied for £20,840 in order to renovate our old brick changing rooms and install an artificial cricket pitch.

We would like to renovate our old dilapidated changing rooms that were built in the 1980s so that they can be used for the massive increase in youth and ladies sport, including boxing that has happened at the B&DSA and install an artificial cricket pitch to enable more youth matches and practice sessions to take place.

The brick shell and tile roof of the changing rooms are perfectly sound but they were built with one communal shower area. The only toilet facility is a mens’ urinal which is obviously not suitable either for ladies sport or mixed-sex youth sport, with girls able to play mixed-sex football and cricket up to Under 13s now. Current changing room design would insist on separate shower areas for each team in addition to a toilet in each changing room.

Additionally the changing rooms were built with minimal insulation making them expensive to heat and uncomfortably hot in the summer. The lack of investment in insulation also means maintaining a suitable water supply to the showers in freezing conditions extremely difficult. We would install suitable insulation in the ceilings and line the walls with insulated boards to reduce heat loss on a cold day.

The installation of a quality artificial cricket pitch would increase the number of youth matches played, the practice sessions we could run and add an additional development team on a Sunday. We have a small cricket square and are currently having to multi-use the cricket strips on the square.

The
Big EDP Lottery Fund have whittled down the 99 applications to just 22 and the readers of the Eastern Daily Press will soon be given the opportunity to vote for which group they would like to see receive the cash applied for.

Jon Fuller, Chairman of the Sports Association said: This is a really good opportunity for us, after many years, to finally provide decent changing rooms for our young football teams, our lady footballers and all our cricket teams. If we can also get enough cash to install an artificial cricket pitch it will do wonders for our youth coaching sessions that have really started to produce some very good young prospects. I just hope that every one locally will get behind our bid and vote for a much needed project to help our young kids."
***
APPARENTLY THE EDP HAS DECIDED THAT YOU HAVE TO SEND THE VOTE FROM THE ACTUAL PAPER AND NOT ONE PRINTED OFF… SORRY IF YOU HAVE WASTED PAPER, BUT HOPEFULLY YOU WILL HAVE DONE WHAT MOST OF US HAVE AND BOUGHT THE PAPER, IF NOT PLEASE GO AND GET ONE AND FILL IN THE FORM THANK YOU FROM JON…

Sole Bay Jazz…wow!

What a great evening of music and laughter, and a huge crowd to cheer on these fine musicians…We must start bringing our own chairs like some people already do, as our little venue seems to encourage a lot more people each week to hear live music… which is wonderful.

Every week, one thinks it cannot get much better, but somehow with the different line up that Alan manages to find we enjoy such super talent.

It was another  really enjoyable evening, lots of talent, lots of friendly people, and Heidi back behind the bar! And what a busy one for a first night back!

We had solos! singing! duets! and 'Hold that Tiger' played very fast that brought everyone to their feet…

Brian joined the line up on the drums,  very good, fitted in well…hope he liked our Ditchingham venue…

Ray on the piano always a pleasure, I think the piano makes a great difference, and nice to see Ray with us again…

Our Tony on his String Bass, what a star, with Ron as always such a great player, Tim, well he is the main part of the Sole Bay and keeps them in control!!with Alan, who uses so much energy with his playing…Roy always supplying us with some fun songs… as I have said WOW… Thank you all so much… It was a good move for the Thursday Jazz, so thanks as always to Jon and Marilyn for letting us all in there!

Ron-Tim-Tony

Tony-Ron-Brian-Alan…

A song from Ron…

Some more from Roy! with high kicks!!

Alan and Ray some great music…

Well done Brian you fitted in very well thank you…

Reminder…

Just a little reminder that the Sports Club
where we have our wonderful Jazz every Thursday night…

Is trying to get a lottery grant for an all weather cricket pitch and changing rooms…

The Eastern Daily Press has a voting form in this week and some of next… as the date to get the forms in is the 14th September…

Please help this good cause and buy an EDP, if you fill the forms in I will collect them Thursday night if you like and send them with my own. Or as it is freepost, please spare the time to help the Pavilion, as they work so hard to help the youngsters in the area.

They have got through to the last 22, so come on jazz fans and help the local good cause.

Thank you… Beryl
