Ron Hockett…

I have heard from Ray Simmons the latest on Ron Hockett… seems great news, I have got an image of the letter, sorry it is not very clear. and the nice photo of Ron that Ray has sent me. well done to him and all the team who has given him a great restart to his life and hopefully one day we will have him back playing with the Sole Bay Jazz Band.

I know he checks in on my blog… so wishing you the best of health to continue  Ron.

Foot Warmers gig…

Well that was worth going to the Club Sunday lunchtime, I always love the music but they seemed to have a rather good session, nice selection of music as well…thanks everyone it sounded great, and so good to see the place nice and full, with some of our SBJ followers also…

The Club is looking really good nowadays and the membership is going up again, and Jane is a great Steward …hope people do come and support the Club as we lose so many venues now that can accommodate bands and social events, so do come along and check it out, and of course especially when live music is played.

Ian had brought along a new instrument he called it the square clarinet, but it sounded like several instruments, so will be expecting more sounds from it in the future when he gets used to it more, nice gravel singing as well Ian,…Mike on clarinet nice to see him,… John saxophone and clarinet, …Peter on his guitar and the banjo and such a lovely voice, …Stu on that bass , do love a bass…Pete on his guitar gets more notes from it every time I hear him…Gary on the drums, also letting our Dave have a drum as well for a couple of numbers, so a great bit of jazz and blues.

Took a few photos but my little camera again does not like the lights and I do not like to disturb people with the flash so hope they convey the band as well as I could get, just like our venue at Ditchingham the post always gets in the way…

Just had to include Stella she is a marvel and some people have not seen her for a while she is in a lot of pain, but as you can see from my photo of her the music brings her to life.

Our Fab Five plus One!

A rather different and very pleasant evening of jazz and singing from our talented Sole Bay Jazz Band…

I do like it when there are just a few players sometimes as then they can try out some different music and you can hear each sound so well, and that was what was going on last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham when a good crowd came along to hear the Sole Bay Jazz Band, and know those who were listening thought so as well.

Such a lot of talented playing and some fun as well… Tim…Ray…Alan…Craig…Tony… plus some very good singing from Barry who fits in very well especially when the mike does not play up, well done to one and all.

Thanks Clover and Christine for the raffle… great as always, and of course thank you all for digging deep again it really helps to keep the music coming along each week. Thanks for the ticket folding as well of course.

Thanks Tim for mentioning dear Horace he like all the other jazzers lost over the past years are always looking down on those who come to hear the music each week. Sadly no one gets any younger, but music is what keeps many of us going…

To all those who are unwell we wish you a speedy recovery…

A couple of photos do not like to take too many as know the flash annoys some…

Alan Cugnoni…Guitar/Banjo…

Some very sad news this week, we have heard  that one of our most dedicated Sole Bay Jazz fans  Horace Easey passed away at the weekend, we send all our love to his family, and we will miss him on a Thursday evening, with his coffee and kit kat  always came to check the change when I did that with Emily at the bar, hunting for special £2 coins and 50ps for his granddaughter…such a gentleman…but he will be with all our other wonderful jazzers looking down.

To all those who are ill at the moment we wish you well again soon. Take care, special love to Wendy … Colin…Derek…

Hope to see a good crowd coming along to enjoy the music… the raffle and the bar…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

First before I write my blog today have to make an apology to Alan and Trummy! sorry missed Trummy off the blog to start with until Alan reminded me! and a few people made it clear I should be more careful ha ha again sorry will try to do better…Nice to know so many of you do look at the blog!

A really good night at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham The Sole Bay Jazz Band playing some great tunes… and Barry came along to sing, rather well I must say…

Tim…Ray…Trummy… Alan…Craig…Tony… all playing up a storm of varied music and they looked like they had some fun as well…

A nice crowd came along on the frosty evening to support the band and they were again very generous with the raffle money! Thank Christine and Clover for doing that… and for Don and Jan for folding the tickets.

Sadly part of the evening was spoiled for me as it is often with loud chatting all through the evening  I have good hearing, which means I enjoy the band but also can hear people who talk very loudly all night… although it is a social club, sometimes when a solo is being played it does seem to spoil things, so please come and enjoy and chat but maybe not all the time and not so loud! I know I am a annoying when I take flash photos to put on here, so I apologise for that. And of course this is just my opinion which will not go down well with some of you!!!

Thanks Emily lovely smiles and thanks for your help…

Hope everyone got home safe and sound in the frosty evening.

Love and get well soon to all who are unwell …

A few photos think I managed to get the fun of the evening with some of them…

Great playing Tim

Thanks Tony great shot…

Tim what are you listening to? great singing Barry…

Sole Bay Jazz …Talent

Last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… The Sole Bay Jazz Band and a guest played us a storm of a jazz great time!

The band are always great but sometimes they get an even bigger lift when a guest turns out to be someone who has played with a couple of them years ago you get a really good vibe and everyone ups their game, so we were treated to a very talented and entertaining evening so thanks to one and all.

Tim playing so good as always great Sax and Clarinet, the same for Julian who was guest for the evening, very talented young man and fitted in so well, loved the singing also, …come back soon, …Ray who's fingers took on a beat of their own goodness great piano playing…Alan on Guitar looking like he loved every minute, Tony on that Bass also playing so well…Craig, well of course always good but was set free last night and some really great drumming… so thanks one and all, I loved it and by the sound of the applause so did every one there, and what a good crowd…

Great that so many turned up to the jazz, just like old times, sorry for those who missed the night because of ill health do hope you will be back soon to enjoy the jazz…

Thanks Christine and Clover for a great job with the raffle… and of course thanks to you all who dug deep again, a lovely raffle as always. also for Duncan.Jan and me ha ha for the ticket folding. Some people say we should only have one raffle ticket, but I love to see everyone laying out their tickets on the table, it is great fun.

Lovely to see Emily back serving all the drinks with a smile and thanks for the help Em.

Nice to know that Ron Hockett is improving well after his big operation, keep getting fitter Ron and come back and play again for us.

A couple of photos…

I was going to give the blog up for the Sole Bay as do not get comment nowadays but the stats show that a lot of you look in, so will keep it going, it is just my little diary so know a lot of folk have a giggle at the lack of finesse but I do love the band and try to encourage people to come along to hear the music. We are so lucky to have them each week.
