Hello Jazzers…

Thanks to Neil, can write up a little blog about last evening at Jazz! Looking forward to getting back myself, but Neil is good to keep me in touch.

He has written…The Sole Bay Band are always consistent, producing another evening of great entertainment. As previously posted they were supported this week with two guests; Barry Langston (keyboard/vocals) and Bill Brewer (trombone). We also enjoyed the occasional humorous exchanges between band members and the audience which added to the good natured atmosphere.

Neil thinks there were about 40-45 present and these numbers allowed for reasonable spacing between tables. In his opinion this and other caution still needs to be respected, in view of the rising covid levels (which I agree with wholeheartedly I went to shop today and a lot of younger people were not wearing masks even though it says at the Co-op masks should still be worn!!!) just saying.

Thanks to Clover, Chris and Emily for providing additional support - notable they wore masks at appropriate times. Miss you ladies.

Sounds like a really good evening of entertainment.

Neil also sent a great photo of our Tony …not with his double bass… very talented gentleman.

I have borrowed a photo from Fudge as well. I know a lot of people follow the Face Book which is great but like to think they also look at the blog for those who do not use FB.

Looking forward to receiving mail from Alan during the week for next weeks line up which will pass to Fudge to put on her Sole Bay FB page.

Stay safe one and all…Happy Birthday to Don for yesterday …

Morning Jazzers

Good morning folks, sorry did not write a blog last week no news from anyone, apart from Fudge and I have borrowed one of her photos as it seems it was a rather good evening.

I had a message from Suzi our  Sheila's daughter…as to whether the jazz will be on Monday… I am sure those of the old gang want to wish best of health to Sheila , our lovely lady.

Have not heard from June to see how Les is but no doubt he will be back asap.

I have just had a phone call from Roy Symonds daughter Helen… Roy is in another care home at Earsham unfortunately he is rather ill now, but I am so glad Helen got in touch, several people had left messages on Roy's phone, now the house is up for sale Helen agreed for me to pop this on here,  so people know not to leave message on answerphone, I have asked her to pass a message on to him this morning in a phone call …from all the jazzers who as I am sure will want to let him know we are thinking about him.

So Alan has just sent me the line up…as YES the jazz is on Monday …

Tim Densham…Clarinet/Saxophone…

Bill Brewer…Trombone…

Barry Langston…Piano/Singer…

Alan Cugnoni …Guitar/Banjo…

Mick Betts…Bass…

Craig Hipperson…Drums…

Sounds a great line up …cannot wait to get back to live music and the good company.

Christine and Clover will be there to encourage the raffle money from you, so everyone can continue to have live Jazz… and our Emily will be her smiling self  behind the bar…

As always …please be safe and abide by the rules, sadly seems more cases of covid about this area, but we must start to live again, and I would think like me, many of you are double jabbed against this thing that has taken a lot from our lives.

Happy night to one and all.

Jazzers

Thanks to those who have sent messages about the jazz…hope people read the comments which are much appreciated. Please scroll down to the messages on the last post…as I am late getting the blog on today…

Thanks as well for all those birthday wishes I got plus the company and flowers as well.

Having managed to get through the surgery yesterday…our Beccles place has been hard to access this past year, but luckily this is the first time I needed to get in touch with them…to speak to the Dr, who I think the last time I spoke to Dr Collins was about 15 or more years ago …Have taken 4 lots of tablets so far, so early days…have to take one which should help back another different one because main the tablet may make me have a bad tum!!!!!! fingers crossed they work! A very frustrated woman here!!!!!garden is suffering as well as me!

A few little items you may have heard but I only just did so…Roy Simmons is out of hospital and living in "The Dell" which is a very nice place in Beccles, he will have lots of company there, and when my back improves I will try and see him there.

June Fisher rang to say her Les is not well at the moment, so I am sure you will be with me to wish him a speedy recovery, they will be missing Jazz so much. as I am.

Tony has let me borrow some of the photos he took as not every body has FB. I hear it was a great night …nice to hear Barry managed to sing some songs…

Please let me know if there is something you think would interest the Jazz folks to put on here, as although I have not yet been back my thoughts are always with The Sole Bay and all the great followers, and I like to to what I can to get the word out.

I expect Clover and Christine did well on the raffle so thanks to them …all helps to keep the band going. Emily seems to be coping well, miss her smile.

Take care one and all stay safe …as long as we  still make sure the rules we need to follow we do… will hopefully allow us more freedom in the future……

Fudge has agreed for me to post photos, for those not on FB, looking forward to more news from the fans which I will pop on as I hear from people, well I hope to hear from a few!

The old back is still playing up here, but hopefully will soon recover from the overwork in the garden! "Should know better" cans of water from the butts will in future be only half full!

Hope your glasses were nice and full last evening, expect Emily looked after you well.

Also hope Christine and Clover managed to ease some nice raffle money from you all, love to hear who won prizes.

Hello again…Have added more!!!!! at the bottom of page!!!!!

Just thought would remind the Jazzers that next Monday The Sole Bay Jazz Band will be starting at 7.30pm  and finishing at 10pm. At the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham.

This seems a fair idea and hopefully will suit people better.

Thanks for all the information about last Monday night, was so pleased everyone managed to keep their distance from one another and yet have a great night of Jazz.

It is hard getting back to our so call Normal but best to take things steady …so we all feel comfortable, especially for people on their own …as I have been it takes a while to proceed into the world again.

Thanks to Clover and Christine for their …as always… good work with the raffle, and thanks for digging deep to help keep the show on the road. Emily I hear was a star as always… x

Hope to see you all again soon…

A few blasts from the past some back to 2012…from all sorts of gigs…

Just had comment from our young Henry hope he can get to play again.

This just popped up on my memories…

Morning Jazzers

Thanks to some lovely people from Jazz, and photos with permission from Fudge…

It seems the 1st night back with The Sole Bay Jazz Band went off very well, so pleased for everyone, sadly not me as still being a hermit.

Felt strange seeing the photos and not being there to take them myself, but so very happy that it went well.

Miss you all and thanks for those who keep in touch… Stay safe…
