Peregrine…

It is so sad but it seems that our darling female falcon who we named between ourselves as Catherine, has not been seen for well over a week now, and as there were buzzards about and she was attacked by them it would seem she has died we are waiting to hear from the Hawk and Owl Trust tomorrow.

Leaving the male to feed and look after the chicks, they are now a nice size he is doing a great job, but as well as the four chicks there is an intruder… a female juvenile falcon that has been sitting and trying to come onto the box, however it now seems that our male has been feeding her as well, so not looking as good as we would like for the chicks, but always we hope for the best.

Our main photographer has allowed me to put this image on the blog, thanks Chris.

Think a few tears will however be shed, as we all get rather fond of these beautiful birds.

We now just hope at least some of the chicks will survive a big ask for the male but he is a lovely caring bird, if you can call a huge bird caring, we all do on the Norwich peregrine site of course.

This is the male with the chicks this evening…The colours are not the same through the camera on the Norwich Box, obviously they are rather beautiful as you can see from the other photograph.
