Another week has flown past and still we are having to be very good and patient before getting to enjoy our beloved Sole Bay Jazz Band for real …in the meantime Tony Nicholls has been keeping us happy with the videos…
Lovely message from Neil about last week, and a good idea that maybe if things go well we could sometime in the future might have a little outdoor listen to the band???? That would be lovely , as Neil said they used to play outside at Mettingham so………………
I do hear from a nice lot of you, if any of you would like something added on here please let me know, as although not many comments, the stats say that a lot of people pop in.
4 years today since we lost another good friend of jazz Peter Parr so many up there looking down and missing the music. But we do not forget them.
Hope all of you are staying safe and following the rules that we should do, sadly a lot of folk do not do that and now with the new adjustments it is even more important… especially as we all want to start getting out and about safely again. But I am sure none of our Jazzers would be silly …as like me we want to see the music venues open again.
A few Black and Whites this week. Oh dear hope that does not offend some people, we are all family. Stay safe and well…

Nice pics again Beryl, jazz looks good in black and white, Tony .xx
Thanks Tony, did you read Neil's comment on the last post? a good idea having some outside band playing!
Hi Beryl - I also love black & white photography, jazz musicians especially always look good, wonder why that is?! Have enjoyed looking at your lovely garden pics - colour obviously necessary there!! Also thank you for last weeks memories of 10 years ago - you made Neil a great cake & we had such a fun night at the Buck. Somewhat different for his 80th with a few visitors social distancing in the garden & just thankful it was a lovely sunny day. It would've been a very hot, sticky night at Ditchingham yesterday but we would gladly put up with that to be back there with all our friends enjoying some great jazz - at this stage I would even happily listen to Sweet Georgia Brown!!! Absence & all that! Maybe Neil's suggestion might bear fruit? Thanks for keeping us in touch with your weekly blog & delving deep for some great pics of Sole Bay & Guests from the past. Bye for now, hope everyone ok & not getting stir-crazy; just don't be tempted to head for the beach! Sandy x
Oh Sandy what a lovely surprise, thank you for commenting so glad you liked the post, yes missing all the friends at jazz and the music, have not heard from Alan for a while hope all is well with him, maybe the idea of an outside jazz time would catch on? Take care, I am ok here but feel like I am wasting my life!!!!!Love to you both xx
Great pictures Beryl thanks for keeping up the good work
The idea of an outside gigs is good but are we "allowed" to hold such events?
I have a large enough garden to hold one & would be happy to do so if its not breaking the rules.
Alan
Oh Alan that would be good but suppose we will have to see how the opening of pubs etc work out and we would have to stick to the rules… but this is still the beginning of the year sort of……after the lock down. we will have to see how things go but so many missing the music and the company xx
Hello again- Re suggested outdoor event.
Alan: It is a REALLY GENEROUS OFFER on your part to offer your garden, but it was never my intention to invoke gangs of codgers (or for that matter, slightly younger light-footed fans) to descend on you. A vision has materialised in my mind which I find slightly amusing, but as things stand at present, I would venture to suggest the legalities might be problematical for such an arrangement, and none of us want to be arraigned for attending an illegal rave.
To hold any event at Ditchingham is obviously dependent on the venue being open for business, willing to see it happen, and able to be compliant with safety/health rules. And we are all sorely aware that said rules are liable to change at short notice. The time will surely come when options may need to be considered. As a means of dipping a toe in the water, some of the regular punters may feel happier in an outside environment, so if anybody has constructive thoughts on the matter, these are surely worthwhile discussing, albeit at this rather early stage. The pesky virus is not going to disappear overnight, so there will continue to be lots of 'ifs & buts'.
Even if there were no virus to contend with, outdoor events always create potential difficulties, and I (and some others that are of my acquaintance) can remember occasions when good humour has been severely tested.
Having stirred the pot, is there anybody willing to add their tuppence?
Regards, Neil
Oh nice Neil now I wonder who will come up with ideas? but of course as you say after this virus has been dealt with, but nice that people may think about the times to come xxxx
