Hello Jazzers…

Yet another Thursday without our visits to Jazz at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

I hope all is well with those who look in on here, please keep in touch if there is anything you would like me to put on the blog, some of you do look in and I am in touch with a few of you. Do miss everyone.

This virus has made a lot of us just self isolate and it will be a while before we dare get out and about again, but it will get better and we can all get out for our Thursday night Jazz.

This week thought would try something different on here, as it was Neil's 80th birthday yesterday, and he has followed the Sole Bay Jazz Band from the start will bring back some memories…10 years ago…

Jazz at Flixton last night..

Wow what a great night at the Flixton Buck last night, thank you Sole Bay for some fantastic music. Managed to nearly get you all in the photo this week.....
Colin came and played drums, and gave us a real treat, have not heard a drum solo like that since the big bands many years ago.
Trummy on your trombone and other! never knew such a great sound could be played on them.
Sorry Simon the mike stand got in the way of your lovely smile, and thank you for some gorgeous songs, always a pleasure to hear your voice, and to see you as well! oh yes and the cornet was great also!
Thanks as always to Tim,Tony and Alan, such a great night out....
Must thank Ivan for taking us there 4 women in a car it was good of you!

Of course we had dear Neil's Birthday Party going on in the other room, wonder if you managed to get him home OK Sandy? bet the head is sore this morning...great buffet Phil, also glad the cake went well....

If you look in please come and join the good crowd of jazz lovers at the Buck on a Thursday night, as always Neil does a proper write up on Southwold Jazz site.

The birthday cake and said celebration (picture posted 18/6/2020) is a reminder of better times, but currently things are beginning to 'look up', although it seems to me a bit premature to place too many eggs in any particular basket. I personally can't see how Ditchingham can open in the same way to which we have all been accustomed, despite the latest news about pubs & clubs being able to start up again. Maybe there are ideas being considered by 'those in the know', and you (Beryl) will probably be one of the first to divulge any such plans to the Sole Bay followers. However, one must not forget that Maltings Pavilion is primarily a sports centre, which will no doubt be their primary focus

What about the Sole Bay getting together an outdoor event, like they used to have at Mettingham? There might be room at Ditchingham for that - - - - . I can think of a few things that might be an issue, not least the loos are a bit restricted. Any volunteers for the job of WC warden?

There will be a huge number of belated celebrations taking place when restrictions have finally been eased back to a reasonable level, but how long that will be is anybody's guess. In the meantime, 'Cakes & Al' definitely has the potential to be an important source of information, so keep up the good work Beryl.

Best regards to ALL - Neil

Thank you Neil lovely to hear from you again, hope you had a good Birthday… I am afraid I do not have the inside information from the Sole Bay but I am hoping Alan will get in touch the minute they think of how to go ahead… I think it is a great idea for the outside events …ha ha I had enough looking after loos at the pub, so will not be putting my name forward for WC Warden……but that is always a problem at the age some of us are!!!!!

However the outside venues may be a good way forward, hope Alan will look on here and think about that idea.

Thanks again Neil and for comments,as sometimes sit here and wonder if it is worth it…Missing everyone… stay safe and keep Jazzing at home until we meet again!
