Day Trip… 2nd part…

From the garden centre at Moulton St Mary, us three ladies went back to the village and down by the river, for a nice cool drink, as by then the weather had improved a lot, we sat chatting to some of the holiday makers on their hire boats, and then walked to the swing bridge… It was so nice to watch the trains going over the bridge and then later the bridge swung open to let a high masted yacht through.

The tide flows swiftly all along that stretch and some of the boats were going rather fast, but fascinating to watch. thought one would hit the bridge!

We then went back past the lovely Pump Station and some of those barns that had been converted, and back to the Ferry, the river flows very fast there but another very nice Ferry Man took care of us, then back home chatting most of the way remembering our lovely day.

So flat everywhere so as I said before we could see for miles.

Once again thanks Jan for driving and getting us on and off the Ferry so well, and for JJ for the great idea of us going there for our day out. Looking forward to the next one wonder where that will be??????

Sole Bay Jazz Night…

Last evening at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… the Sole Bay Jazz Band plus guests played for a smaller audience than usual, maybe holidays or in the case of illness, I would like to know how you are please if you could contact me, you know who you are!

Again as last week only my very own opinion I think the band has had  better nights however some great solo pieces and Hannah made her debut singing with the Sole Bay which a lot of people really enjoyed, nice to see younger people coming along enjoying the jazz…we also had Allan and Tony singing.

I still prefer Doris Day or Kathy Kirby version of Secret Love but again that is just me…some different choices of music last evening some great and some a little less may I say!! However that is what live music is all about. A few jokes from Allan amused some people as well.

We are so lucky to have live music every Thursday evening and some great talent, so a good night out for the price of a raffle ticket (or several) and a good bar, so hope to see a few more people coming along to enjoy it all, and support the Band.

Maybe the smell of the e cigs did make the night uncomfortable for me because I do suffer an allergy, glad and sorry I am not the only one they affect!

Thanks to Heidi smiling as usual, Clover and Chris for doing the raffle, you did well considering the amount of people, nice to see some faces that have not seen in a while! and of course the 'boys' for folding the tickets.

The photos are rather vivid with the coloured shirts! but gay…

Great drumming Craig a star I must say…your fan club loving it.

Day Trip…

Yesterday the two Jan's and me went off on one of our little days out…

Jan  1 drove and off we went to Reedham Ferry, what a day we thought to go out, raining but muggy, ah well…it has been many years since I have been to the Ferry but JJ said it was good and it was a real treat including the radio suddenly saying Ferry Ahead as we approached which made us all jump.

Nice Ferry man and Jan made a good job of getting us on the deck, a short journey across which of course saves mile round the roads. There were cars following so we could not stop but on the way a lovely old pump house… should have taken photo but I am sure we will go again…Lots of the old houses were being refreshed and no doubt will be summer second homes however they are being done really nicely …great villages no wonder London folk want to come to our sweet countryside.

The views on the way were so good as being flat could see for miles. the sun came through in the end and the rain stopped… we were heading for Moulton Nurseries, and well worth the trip, I am sure the 2 J's were fed up with me going 'wow' as I have never seen such a display of well tended flowers and plants, and I wanted them all for my garden! They also have the most enchanting display of gifts oh dear you could spend a lot of money there, but just to look was really nice and wonder how someone finds all these lovely things.

A clever lady has a hat shop in the centre and what talent everything was so gorgeous, so spent a nice time wandering round going wow again!!

We then went into the restaurant which was nice and clean and home cooked food, lovely lunch and a huge hot cup of coffee, then back to the flowers, we of course did spend a little!!!!!!

Thanks ladies I had a really great day out, good one JJ for thinking of that one, and there is more to come on here as we went on to the river so watch this space…

Just a few of the photos does not do the flowers justice so you should go and check them out!! Sorry ladies caught you on the last one ..

Sunflower

This morning a little bee was having fun on my sunflower.

I do try so hard to encourage the bees in my little garden, but yesterday I killed one because it was crawling in my trouser leg whilst dead heading the flowers…left me with a very sore leg, bit sad but I feel the pain on my leg and for the poor bee…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

The 1st of the month of September at the Sport Pavilion Ditchingham,  where we had 7 musicians to play for us …although the crowd were not as many as usual …but a good few people on holiday I expect. To all those who are unwell missed you. hurry back.

Hope all enjoyed a great night of live music.  It was again a very hot evening and sorry for those who choose to sit near the open fire doors but maybe would have been better to change seats, we did not want the band to pass out with heat…

Maybe a bit too many pit stops for me…kept wanted to say just play never mind which key or who does not know it, but then that is just my opinion,  A lot of the fans enjoyed every bit of it and we are so lucky to have such talent every Thursday evening…I may not have noticed these things while I did the raffle but I suppose sitting down to enjoy the music some seemed a while coming!!!but never the less very good night, some really good playing once the music was decided upon! Thanks to one and all, and rather nice drumming thanks Ron for sitting in for Craig…

Glad Peters photos went down well with most of the regular long term crowd and some of the musicians, nice to see what everyone used to look like! lovely to see Jenny when she was singing.

Thanks for digging deep for the raffle and for Clover and Chris collecting …also the raffle folders as always…

Heidi for that lovely smile plus lots of good friends so thanks again to everyone.

A few photos…As the stats show a lot of people look at the blog, so I will keep it going at the moment even without comments.

Just wanted to also say. Today the 2nd September is a year since Keith Denny passed on, and we miss him, a great man to always have an interest in the Band and starting the raffle to keep it going, so thanks Keith, hope you are looking down to see how things are …and to dear Sheila enjoyed our afternoon, glad you liked the scones! I know you will be looking in here xx

Just thought I would add a little note in case anyone looking in thought I was moaning about the jazz… I was going back through the years on the jazz I had put on here to find photos of Keith and have spent a lovely time scrolling through the years, how lucky have I been to have had the pleasure of the Sole Bay playing… if you have time scroll back we have had some great nights…
