Sole Bay Jazz Band with guests…

Another good night of live music at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham last evening the 30th August…

Sadly a very small crowd but the applause from those who were there made up for that…

I must say it is a shame when not many people turn up for a free gig (apart from the raffle) so sad as Alan gets a different line up each week, and there are not many more talented musicians around that play every week…Although not many young members of the band as most who play for us have been playing all of their lives, of course always looking for new talent to come along and play a few numbers, so if you are interested, do come along and have a look.

Lots of different numbers last evening some that even Trummy did not know! so well done to all the players a full evening of music and some giggles…

Thanks Clover for the raffle and thank you all for digging deep again… the 'boys' doing their good job of folding all the tickets.

Thanks Emily for the cheery face behind the bar… and for assisting me!!

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

I am not quite sure where to start this week with my diary, as last night was not only a special night for me as many of them are…at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…but it was The Sole Bay Jazz Band giving us a really great evening of Talent…Fun…Laughter and much more…

Thank you everyone who made my night extra special with all your lovely cards, wishes, presents…and thank you band for my 'Happy Birthday song' also Tim for saying I work hard for the band, I would not say that …but I do know over the years I have loved being a little part of being able to help the band continue to play every Thursday evening. Keith ensured we started the raffle all that time ago and it has been worthwhile to help keep the music going…

I loved the sounds last night, and great to have Tony P back in the line up once again, love it when the words may not come in the songs the fun you bring is great…Tim as always such a talent and loved to see the Baritone out again…great clarinet solo…Ray those fingers were flying last evening even more than usual…Alan who gets the line up each week …enjoying his guitar and banjo…Tony J lovely bass…and of course Craig those drums were making a great sound…

We had a Barry come along and took over the bass for a while …… we also had  Barry our man in black who was wearing Blue!!!!singing for us…

A great raffle,  thank you all for digging deep and lovely that so many turned up last night…thanks to Clover and Christine for doing the raffle…of course for our 'boys' who fold all those tickets…

Missed a few of our friends who are away helping with the Scouts ……sorry …but you missed a great night!!!

But glad to see some folk who had not been along for a while coming to hear a great night of music.

Sole Bay Jazz Band with friends…

A good night of live music at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, with the Sole Bay Jazz Band and guests…

Sadly not too many folk about, however those of us there enjoyed the music…

Some great playing as always,  maybe a little more subdued than usual… but it could have been the weather after the heat wave they have been playing in on a Thursday evening… the welcome rain may have prevented  a few more people coming along and it is always good to have a nice crowd to play to…however some vocals from Barry, also a visit from Simon Ashenden (hope I have spelt that correctly Simon) with his Sousaphone… a very different instrument to have at Ditchingham and a nice change…gave Tony a chance to watch! Thanks to all the band for a lovely evening of jazz…

It is good to see different people coming along and I know the band will always welcome a visit if you love playing jazz music to sit in with them for a few numbers, as they are very talented musicians  who one could learn from, so do let Alan know if you are interested to play for a number or two with them.

Thanks Christine for the raffle another fine one… and of course for the ticket folding 'boys'.

A few photos Fudge has some good ones on FB as well…

Southwold again…

Southwold again as Jan decided last evening we needed more walking!!! so off we went…

We parked on the common this time, and walked to the pier again such a lovely sea breeze the air was great… lots of folk around again so good to see that the summer hot weather has done good for the business's.

We walked up the pier less windy than Saturday… the sea looked lovely, they have mirrors on the side of the pier like the old mirrors that we used to see when we were young …you can be all sorts of things when you look in fat… tall …short etc… and we could not resist the strange looks, in one of the photos we had a nice chap looking in at the two older ladies enjoying a giggle…

We had fish and chips and took them on the common to eat, they were yummy, but no litter bins around? only dog poo bins!! strange but lack of seagulls there so maybe they were trying to stop people feeding them by making you take your litter home!!!

Then more walking mmmm then home…

Lovely evening Jan thanks again we may be getting fit???

A few photos in no particular order …many may be the same like  I have posted in past years Southwold certainly is a great place to be.

Giggles in the strange mirrors…

More giggles no idea who the chap was poser!!!!

Walk…

Jan decided we would go for a walk last evening, but she did not tell me we were going to Southwold to do that!!!!…

So off we went and got there about 5pm (sorry Barry missed your band as did not read the message on FB until got home) we could have come earlier.

We went all round the common and the town to park, have never seen Southwold quite so full of people and cars!!!!so we went back to the pier and parked up there…

Lovely walk all along in front of the beach huts, lots of swimmer still in the sea… so many people, was good for all the little cafes along the front, but bet some of the folk on the beach will have a bit of soreness from wind burn!

We went up into the town and wandered back to the pier about 6.15, the first eating place was so full inside and outside …so we went to the Pizza place further down which was nearly empty to start with, very very windy on the pier…

Thanks Jan lovely treat and that pizza was so nice…not so sure we should have had half a vanilla slice each with our coffee but oh so good neither of us could remember the last time we had one of those, maybe we should have had that before our walk!!!! But a great cup on real coffee …

Back to the park by 7 and nice journey home. Well apart from some silly people overtaking on the dips!!! mad lot…

Did take a couple of photos… lovely evening pre birthday treat!!!

Garden…

I expect a lot of people have been like me this year with the gardens, I have cut back and pulled up so much to try and save what I could, I do have 4 large water butts but they soon emptied, so it was water from the tap and could hear the water meter whizzing around…

So this morning while doing a little more cutting back felt quite sad as the garden on the whole looks so bad, I had company the other day and felt a little ashamed that it was so dull… but… I went round and took the camera and found some lovely flowers that when I first looked around thought I had no colour left… The first photo was all I could catch from the lovely sunset last evening too many buildings round here nowadays…so……

Sole Bay Jazz with Friends…

A blast of live music from a great line up of the Sole Bay Jazz Band last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… so good to see a nice crowd to enjoy the sunny evening with  lots of music and singing… so thank you all.

Some really good solos from all the band,  Phew the last drum roll was rather good Craig…Pete that saxophone solo sounded great , and of course Ray with those tinkling keys…Geoff always has a good lot of different music when he comes along and Trummy always so many notes come out of those instruments  our great backline of Alan Tony and Craig never stop  playing to support the front line…so well done to them…it was very nice to see so many of the band really enjoying themselves which of course comes across to the fans…Barry lovely to hear you again.

Good to see some  new folk and a nice lot of the regulars, it was a very hot night especially for the band but as usual they provided everyone with a nice varied programme.

Thanks to Jan who was my side kick doing the raffle, rather enjoyed it again… and of course like Alan said as always thank you all for digging deep, we had 7 in the band last night with Barry giving us some great vocals as well, and as there is no entrance fee even though the raffle prizes are  worth having… it is good that those who come along realise how good it is to have such talented musicians.

Of course our "boys' who fold the tickets always do a grand job.

Of course Emily behind the bar, following on from Heidi with a lovely smile, and always a great help to me, thank you.

So pat yourselves on the back all those who came along to hear the band, Mavis and Peter who come all the way from Bury St Edmunds as often as they can lovely to see you… thank for the chocolate. So many lovely people make up the audience each week, so if you look in here and have not yet tasted the lovely live music ,…do come along and hear them.

A few photos…Fudge has some good ones on FB… Get those bites cleared up Fudge…
