JAZZ WITH FRIENDS AND FUN!

Well that turned out to be a rip roaring evening with Sole Bay Jazz and friends…at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

Not many people turned out but those who did applauded the music and such talent, keeping us all amused with not only great playing but entertainment which was really good.

I did make a little video of one piece may pop it on later…

Some really different tunes and singing from Pete and our man in black with a hat! Tony Jullings was still missing so Mick Betts stepped in again and played some great bass even if he had not played some of the music before.  I liked that Tim was so pleased with him… Tim of course as always great playing and so good to see the laughter…Bill Brewer such a fine player with great melodic music and always a smile…Pete Gregory stepped in for Alan and have not heard him for a while …I love the guitar ( I do know some folk do not …sorry) and Pete always comes up trumps…also sang and played banjo with a  favourite of mine  Dr Jazz…Our Craig wonderful as always and nice to see him instead of being stuck at the back…such a clever chap, and the tinkle on the glass was fun!!!! Barry did well and his voice is great …shame once again about the microphones but hopefully new ones will be there soon!!!!

I did take some photos not as great as could be red light flashing to say battery was low but managed a few…

Our lovely bar lady Emily is off to Australia for a while we will miss you Em but keep in touch and thanks for the card for the band…

The raffle  Christine did well and the prizes are always good…but of course a lot of empty chairs, (lovely to see Mavis and Peter managing to come along again long journey for them at their wonderful age ) so hope to see a better crowd next week…by the way whoever put the Euro in for raffle you owe the band a £1! thanks Em for noticing it.

Hope all who are unwell will soon recover…we miss you …

Sole Bay Jazz Band & Friends

This Thursday evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… The Sole Bay Jazz Band minus a few and plus a few …completely wowed the rather more full audience …

So thank you one and all a super night of talent…Great to see Mick back on bass (even though we miss you Tony, get better soon)Mick always has a great smile on his face, does not like solos but does them brilliantly…Craig on those drums always a pleasure…Ray on the piano who surprised us all by playing trumpet for several numbers we do miss him on that, so Ray maybe a couple of numbers more often? Derek  nice work… always worry that stool is too high! Tim, well great playing as always and enjoying himself… as did they all which makes a difference to the audience …and how nice to welcome Phil Brooks on his guitar, as everyone knows I am a great guitar fan, and he certainly did make some great sounds… Greg turned up and played his harmonica we have not seen him for a while, then our Barry who took on a couple of different style songs as well as a couple of rather nice ones. Could not resist the 2 photos …

So all in all a rather fabulous evening of live music…

The difference the microphones made was amazing (thanks Ray for the loan)

I thank you all for digging deep for the raffle as always and as I mentioned great to see a good crowd with not so many empty seats… thank you Christine for getting lovely prizes and for doing the raffle, and of course our 'boys" for folding all those tickets…

Thanks for our lady behind the bar who's name I always forget… you did a grand job. Thanks Jon for your help from the bar, everything goes to getting these talented people to play each Thursday night…and for the rather good raffles we have.

Fudge took some great photos over on face book… I could not manage to get everyone in together so wandered around taking a few, realised did not get Ray playing the piano whoops!

Hope all those who were unwell and could not make it soon feel better…

Jazz with Fun!

YES… Live music with lots of fun last night…Thanks to all in the band that entertained us at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham last evening…
Somehow of late I have felt that buzz has been missing as well as some of the regulars! but it came back last night…

I must say that the Sole Bay Jazz Band and part Cool Blue turned the evening into a very pleasant time…

Sadly not many people there to enjoy the night, lots of empty chairs…but for those who were I must say a huge thank you because you dug really deep for the raffle… thanks Jan for lending me a hand with the raffle…and for the 'boys' for folding the tickets…

Where do I start… Tony P how great to see and hear him back again, kept the evening going…with Ray on the piano tinkling those keys…a newcomer to the Sole Bay but part of Cool Blue… Steve Kannell well done good choices of some of the music in fact good that everyone deciding what to play made it work…Craig back on those drums …joy…Alan guitar and banjo, sorry if I upset you about the mike leads! but it was the only sore point as the mikes kept blanking out…then Mick Betts from Cool Blue on his bass always such a pleasure and the smile said it all… that means we were missing our Tony J though who had hurt his back so get better soon to him…then  Barry came up and sang some great songs so pleased as he fitted in very well… looked very comfortable….

So I do hope everyone else enjoyed the evening and will agree that the band gelled so well and the wow factor was back…

Thanks Emily for your help, glad you washed the bar floor pity the bleach was so strong ha ha…

Fudge and Robin well done congratulations on completing the Great North Run marathon…

A few photos could not get them all in although Fudge did on Face Book Sole Bay Jazz site…so thought a few shots would be ok.

Hope to have a good line up next week and more people to come along and support the band.

Sole Bay Jazz Band with friends…

This Thursday evening the 13th September Live Jazz at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

Hope to see a good crowd come along and support the band, it has been a bit thin on the ground of late, and I may not helped as some of the evenings have not been very much fun, so I have not found a lot to chat about on here…and several people have suggested a few things about the band, so felt would just not post the blog in case I offended anyone…although I admire all the members of the band,…as they should know… sometimes it just does not gel for me, maybe because I have been listening for a lot of years and have heard them play with so much more fun between the players, also I seem to have good hearing and find it loud sometimes, HOWEVER my opinion only…

How lucky are we to have free live music every Thursday night with different line ups, and I do appreciate how hard it is to find players that suit every ones taste… Always have been such a fan of the band and try to do the best I can for them all, so here is hoping to a great night this week of not only live Jazz but fun as well.

This week you also have Jan and me doing the raffle so hope we can persuade you to dig deep as you always do to support the band…Clover has sorted the prizes for me so looking forward to some of you enjoying a win!

Alan has got a line up of…

Tony Parsons…Trombone/Vocals…

Ray Simmons…Piano…

Steve Kannell……Saxophone…Clarinet/Flute/Vocals

Alan Cugnoni…Guitar/Banjo
