The Chorus of St Cecilia…

Yet another evening of  me being spoilt by Jan with Elizabeth, James and Max they took me to see and hear the wonderful Chorus of St Cecilia to the 21st year anniversary concert 'Broadway Romance' at The Pavilion Theatre Gorleston .

The three 'D's' all sing in the choir and James acts as well, so a very talented trio, as is the whole cast…led by Mathew Hardy with his team they put on really super shows for charity every year. Chris on piano what a player he is…

Lots of different music…and the costumes are beautiful …Les Miserables… Mack and Mabel …Mamma Mia…Wizard of Oz… Chicago …Muppets Movie with the junior choir… as well as many more…Everyone sang and played so well, the solos were as always lovely… Neil gives such a professional persona his voice send shivers…The last section is always the best makes tears of joy come to your eyes when the volume goes up and the beautiful voices blend together…and what an appreciative audience …

But the choir itself is really the best there is, the ladies and gentlemen look and sound so great, the harmony is outstanding, and the little ones look so cute in the junior choir and so well behaved, certainly a choir helps with meeting friends and self esteem.

So once again a great evening and one does not have to go to the West End to see and hear great singing. Thanks to one and all.

The Chorus of St Cecilia…

The Festival Summer Concert last evening at The Minster Gt Yarmouth was as always with the Choir a wonderful talented one.

Thank you so much Jan, for taking me …Elizabeth, James and Max for my lovely surprise to see and hear you all now back in the Choir makes me so very proud.

What a glorious moving night, Matthew Hardy and his team work so hard to bring these great singers together and provide a wonderful sound.

Christopher Whiting on the piano what a talent he has.

Many years ago we saw a very talented singer… her teacher Matthew Hardy who saw her potential  and encouraged her as he does all his pupils… we went to see her and had goosebumps when she sang even at an early age…Hannah Long, she has gone on to win the title of Norfolk young musician in 2003 and many more awards and degrees ,has performed all over the country, a clever confident young lady now teaches singing herself, but she does come back to the Choir when she can, and what a voice the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and especially at The Minster her high notes sore round the Church.

The Junior Choir are so gorgeous you just want to hug them ,well we do when they have finished singing, they look like little angels!!!!Little mischiefs …

Last night it was popular classics and songs from musicals, also a tribute to one of their team who sadly dies this year and the Choir sang …All in the April Evening and may The Choirs of Angels which brought a tear to the eye…you felt she was looking down on the Choir …so good to see a packed church and the applause was huge as it should be a standing ovation … So thank you to everyone…

The Chorus of St Cecilia…

Last evening Jan and I went to the '20th Year Anniversary Concert' to see The St Cecilia Choir, at the Pavilion Theatre Gorleston…this time it was called "Regards to Broadway", some wonderful hits from the Broadway Musicals…Carousel…My Fair Lady…Oliver… Mamma Mia…The Greatest Showman…The Producers…Chicago  (well done Hannah and Charlette what a performance)
The voices of Neil and Philip…Sam…Charlette …Hannah …Bracken…these young singers are brilliant… and all the wonderful cast …young Max wow…(the show must go on… had an op on Wednesday and managed one song with Bracken, Sam and Hannah well done young man). Not a dry eye in the house.

Every time we go to the concerts they get better and better and last night was exceptional, it could have been a West End show with top stars, and as far as the packed house and the cheers and standing ovations it certainly felt like it…

Well done again to Mathew Hardy what a star  a great musical director,  Chris on Piano…  Arthur, Drums and  a lady on String Bass… to all the production assistants stage manager and front of house, once again you have brought such pleasure and talent to Gorleston Theatre.

Of course my great pleasure is seeing Jan's daughter, my niece Elizabeth singing in the choir again, James her hubby, and Max their son at 8 who is in the junior choir, my head was going from side to side to watch them. The audience many of whom had children and friends on stage, so proud as we always are.

So many bad things seem to be happening everywhere nowadays, so it was especially wonderful to lose oneself in the magic of music and singing.

(Not sure about those teenagers who were loudly yelling and already fairly well not sober waiting for the night club to open at 11pm last night)…bet they do not feel as good as us this morning. Thank goodness for the old days!

Christmas Festive Concert

Last evening Jan invited me to go with her and meet up with her Daughter, Husband and Grandson, to go to hear the Chorus of St Cecilia,  Festive Christmas Concert, as they know how I love the choir, made special nowadays although Elizabeth now does not sing in the choir but her hubby James and their Son Max do now sing, and it was Max's first concert so extra special.

Always such a joy to hear the choir and special because of Max, who did so well never seen him so still!

Mathew Hardy is the Musical Director …on the piano Christopher Whiting …drums Arthur Yan le baleur… Soloists Jo Westaway… gorgeous voice… Philip Pearson sounding better each time we hear him… and darling Max Pring who we have seen since he was really little and still only 11 with the most angelic voice, and the most adorable face so cheeky.

Great choir starting off with a Christmas Melody… and continuing with amazing Christmas songs… the junior choir makes the cheeks ache with the smiles one has to have on the face as they are so very delicious and in their red santa hats in some of the numbers, what a really good thing that with all the trouble some youngsters are blamed for nowadays, to see the youngsters fully committed to the choir, before half time the audience had a chance to sing with the choir Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer… and in  the second half O Holy Night …The Snowman and many more with the junior choir singing Little Donkey, Mary had a Baby, with Max Pring singing Pie Jesu, must admit to tears in my eyes with that one.

The choir finished off with Bethlehem …White Christmas …We Wish you a Merry Christmas, and the audience joined in with O Come All Ye Faithful…

So many thanks to the family for including me again, and for the wonderful choir members who put on great shows …Mathew Hardy …you did it again well done.

Love the new specs Dawnie …I did borrow one from Emma's  photos so that is a bit blurred, but after all that hard work both her and Tom are so proud of one another…as we are of them both.

Southwold again…

Southwold again as Jan decided last evening we needed more walking!!! so off we went…

We parked on the common this time, and walked to the pier again such a lovely sea breeze the air was great… lots of folk around again so good to see that the summer hot weather has done good for the business's.

We walked up the pier less windy than Saturday… the sea looked lovely, they have mirrors on the side of the pier like the old mirrors that we used to see when we were young …you can be all sorts of things when you look in fat… tall …short etc… and we could not resist the strange looks, in one of the photos we had a nice chap looking in at the two older ladies enjoying a giggle…

We had fish and chips and took them on the common to eat, they were yummy, but no litter bins around? only dog poo bins!! strange but lack of seagulls there so maybe they were trying to stop people feeding them by making you take your litter home!!!

Then more walking mmmm then home…

Lovely evening Jan thanks again we may be getting fit???

A few photos in no particular order …many may be the same like  I have posted in past years Southwold certainly is a great place to be.

Giggles in the strange mirrors…

More giggles no idea who the chap was poser!!!!

Walk…

Jan decided we would go for a walk last evening, but she did not tell me we were going to Southwold to do that!!!!…

So off we went and got there about 5pm (sorry Barry missed your band as did not read the message on FB until got home) we could have come earlier.

We went all round the common and the town to park, have never seen Southwold quite so full of people and cars!!!!so we went back to the pier and parked up there…

Lovely walk all along in front of the beach huts, lots of swimmer still in the sea… so many people, was good for all the little cafes along the front, but bet some of the folk on the beach will have a bit of soreness from wind burn!

We went up into the town and wandered back to the pier about 6.15, the first eating place was so full inside and outside …so we went to the Pizza place further down which was nearly empty to start with, very very windy on the pier…

Thanks Jan lovely treat and that pizza was so nice…not so sure we should have had half a vanilla slice each with our coffee but oh so good neither of us could remember the last time we had one of those, maybe we should have had that before our walk!!!! But a great cup on real coffee …

Back to the park by 7 and nice journey home. Well apart from some silly people overtaking on the dips!!! mad lot…

Did take a couple of photos… lovely evening pre birthday treat!!!

The Chorus of St Cecilia…

Once again I have been spoilt by my Sister in law Jan …Niece Elizabeth and her hubby James…

Elizabeth, as I have probably said on my posts about the choir that she used to sing in it and has always been a pleasure to go and see them singing either with just the choir or at musicals and more…now James is in the choir and sounding really good as well…

Last evening he took us to Winterton Church where they hold a Summer Concert…Great church and packed full! where we all enjoyed a wonderful night of beautiful singing…With of course some of the juniors oh they are so sweet and very talented…Starting off with Gloria by Vivaldi it was so moving then the juniors sang All things Bright and Beautiful…Followed by them singing The Owls.

Some Lloyd Webber songs during the evening with Wishing You Were …Somewhere Here Again with Hannah Hall soloist who not only sang like an angel she looked gorgeous made the hairs stand up on the back of ones neck…she also sang With You later… Philip Pearson sang Music of the Night…also From Now On with the Choir in dancing mood!

We had a South Pacific Medley which is always entertaining… Schubert …Ava Maria …Cohens Halleluja and many more…

A new song written by a local person called The Truelove about a fishing vessel very very moving and just right as the Church has fishing nets on some of the walls so really in keeping…So many more plus those super youngsters singing Where is Love…A Spoonful Of Sugar…Scarbough Fair…

Three men  of the Choir sang Bring Him Home which we all love and the harmonies were superb…

I must mention the wonderful pianist who also sang, he is so talented.

The Chorus ended with Cantate Domino and You'll Never Walk alone… of course to a standing ovation, what more could you want to end the evening…During which two very nice gentlemen served wine… and juices for everyone, and a little giggle as the Church does not have an indoor loo so a porttaloo was well attended……luckily it was a beautiful evening……

Thanks to my lovely family for taking me and for Elizabeth and James for doing a duet in the car on the way home which was so nice…oh yes and the chips which were yummy even if rather late in the evening.

Lucky me xx
