I have a feeling this is going to be a long blog diary entry as……
I had a wonderful treat yesterday a pre birthday present from my sister in law Jan… Peter and Jenny were going to take his sister to the Proms but her hubby was not well so Jan snapped the tickets up.
Peter drove us to the Blickling Proms, and it was soooo good. Mmmm my first ride in a Lexus very nice…and good driver…The atmosphere was wonderful, I had been before to an outdoor concert but the fans of the Proms was rather more electric…
So many people and lots of flags …lights… food and drink and great toilets!!! A huge crowd, we got there nice and early and when a few minutes later we looked back and could not believe how many people were there. Lots of fancy dress and some very smart evening wear.
Jenny had prepared us a rather yummy picnic and wine , Jan had brought desert but we got rather full on the savoury however she had made flasks of tea and coffee which went down well at the interval…to eat in that atmosphere was so great, the sun was shining for a while and later the skies were spectacular
……………………………………
The Sinfonia Viva Orchestra was brilliant and the programme was just great.
Blake band …wow those 3 Tenors send thrills down ones back…great looking as well…and the twins Classical Reflection their voices so clear and in harmony, and so very pretty. I cannot put on here how really good it all was.
The Orchestra started off with Hooray for Hollywood, which got the crowd going then South Pacific… Blake came on and sang Nella Fantasia…Bridge over troubled Water…and a great version of Halleluja… then the Orchestra again with Lawrence of Arabia… Schindler's List… Out of Africa… goodness it was like a travel journey to all parts of the world.
Blake then returned to sing… Up Where We Belong… mmm Officer and a Gentleman film going through our minds…then She Was Beautiful, and Fields of Gold, tried a little video of that one but not good enough to put on here, but nice to sit on my own and relive it all. The Orchestra ended the first half with My Fair Lady…
Large queues for the loos!!!!!! which of course we joined…Think the gentlemen who had their own set of loos their queue went quicker than ours! Lots of people getting lost, we had a good high flag near were we sat so luckily we found our places again!
After the interval the Orchestra started off with the Superman March…Back to the future…
Blake returned to sing Bring Him Home, oh tears what a song and they were so into it. Time to Say Goodbye next, then Nessun Dorma… phew, followed but the Sinfonia again The Big Country…E Piu Ti Penso with Classical Reflection…Then onto Jerusalem with Orchestra…Blake and Classical Reflection… Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance … and great audience participation such fun felt like we were at the Albert Hall …then to top the lot Star Wars, played so well and long and the biggest fireworks display I have ever seen in my life, now I am not a fan of fireworks, but felt we were in a fairy land of beauty and noise with the fireworks going off over the lake and the Orchestra playing full pelt…
What a great success for the organisers well done to them all, and a beautiful setting…
Of course everyone and I mean everyone who had a car sat with great patience to get away, some not so patient so bumps and insurance details taken, thank goodness Peter kept calm and collected and eventually we got off the Estate and on our way home but gone midnight by then.
Thanks you again Jan what a great present, Jenny and Peter great company and food and wine thank you. A few photos …in no particular order… and considering the size of my camera think not bad…Do not worry Jan will not put the personal photos on will send e mail xxx
