Sole Bay Jazz Fun Night…

Well for all those who could not get to the Sole Bay Jazz last evening at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… you missed a great evening of  live music mixed in with some fun…

Thanks Sole Bay what a great evening was had by all… well probably apart from the heat and not having the fire door open… Think in future we better ask people not to sit there as not only is it wrong to lock a fire door but of course the poor band nearly suffered from heat stroke! A thought for the future? Good job that the talking kept to the bottom of the room sorry for those who were trying to listen to the band there, but they played nice and loud, frightened Tim a bit once or twice!!

Some great playing as I said plus non stop music, and some giggles …Ha ha Alan nice one! nice singing Simon, a great raffle thanks Clover you did really well, thanks Heidi in that heat you did well! Thanks to our raffle ticket folders also…

Sorry I am late putting this on Fudge!!!!!

Hope all those who were not well enough to come along we send our best wishes to you.

Just a couple of photos as nearly forgot, nice for me to be able to sit and listen to the band…

Sole Bay Jazz…

Thursday night 18th August at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, a rather large crowd of music lovers came along to enjoy live music.

A different night again with our Tony Parsons heading the band lots of talent and a fun evening was had by all. Thanks to them all for providing us a night of live music and fun

It was a strange evening for me with nearly 8 years of doing the raffle, and I will miss it…you have not got rid of me altogether though!  but time to hand over to Clover and Chris who will take on the task of collecting and getting the raffle prizes for you all …and they did a grand job for a first time , especially with the big crowd, thank you all for digging deep once again, as you know it helps to keep the band coming along each week.

Some talented playing and a nice little section with Ron Ray and Craig brilliant. Tony sang some good songs and made us giggle with a little tale, also we had a bit of harmonica playing from Geoff.

A few photos but they did not come out very well, me rather than the camera perhaps, but will pop them on.

On this point, I have collected the raffle money from the start maybe 8 years ago now, when our Keith decided I would be the one to cajole you all out of some money so we could enjoy a different line up each week.

But it is now time to hand the baton over to some younger members, and Clover with Chris have taken on the role, so please be nice and dig deep as always, I am sure they will soon get used to all your ways, and it will be a a great relief for my back…I will be able to sit and enjoy the music.

BLICKLING PROMS……

I have a feeling this is going to be a long blog diary entry as……

I had a wonderful treat yesterday a pre birthday present from my sister in law Jan… Peter and Jenny were going to take his sister to the Proms but her hubby was not well so Jan snapped the tickets up.

Peter drove us to the Blickling Proms, and it was soooo good. Mmmm my first ride in a Lexus very nice…and good driver…The atmosphere was wonderful, I had been before to an outdoor concert but the fans of the Proms was rather more electric…

So many people and lots of flags …lights… food and drink and great toilets!!! A huge crowd, we got there nice and early and when a few  minutes later we looked back and could not believe how many people were there. Lots of fancy dress and some very smart evening wear.

Jenny had prepared us a rather yummy picnic and wine , Jan had brought desert but we got rather full on the savoury however she had made flasks of tea and coffee which went down well at the interval…to eat in that atmosphere was so great, the sun was shining for a while and later the skies were spectacular
……………………………………
The Sinfonia Viva Orchestra was brilliant and the programme was just great.

Blake band …wow those 3 Tenors send thrills down ones back…great looking as well…and the twins Classical Reflection their voices so clear and in harmony, and so very pretty. I cannot put on here how really good it all was.

The Orchestra started off with Hooray for Hollywood, which got the crowd going then South Pacific… Blake came on and sang Nella Fantasia…Bridge over troubled Water…and a great version of Halleluja… then the Orchestra again with Lawrence of Arabia… Schindler's List… Out of Africa… goodness it was like a travel journey to all parts of the world.

Blake then returned to sing… Up Where We Belong… mmm Officer and a Gentleman film going through our minds…then She Was Beautiful, and Fields of Gold, tried a little video of that one but not good enough to put on here, but nice to sit on my own and relive it all. The Orchestra ended the first half with My Fair Lady…

Large queues for the loos!!!!!! which of course we joined…Think the gentlemen who had their own set of loos their queue went quicker than ours! Lots of people getting lost, we had a good high flag near were we sat so luckily we found our places again!

After the interval the Orchestra started off with the Superman March…Back to the future…
Blake returned to sing Bring Him Home, oh tears what a song and they were so into it. Time to Say Goodbye next, then Nessun Dorma… phew, followed but the Sinfonia again The Big Country…E Piu Ti Penso with Classical Reflection…Then onto Jerusalem with Orchestra…Blake and Classical Reflection… Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance  … and great audience participation such fun felt like we were at the Albert Hall …then to top the lot Star Wars, played so well and long and the biggest fireworks display I have ever seen in my life, now I am not a fan of fireworks, but felt we were in a fairy land of beauty and noise with the fireworks going off over the lake and the Orchestra playing full pelt…

What a great success for the organisers well done to them all, and a beautiful setting…

Of course everyone and I mean everyone who had a car sat with great patience to get away, some not so patient so bumps and insurance details taken, thank goodness Peter kept calm and collected and eventually we got off the Estate and on our way home but gone midnight by then.

Thanks you again Jan what a great present, Jenny and Peter great company and food and wine thank you. A few photos …in no particular order… and considering the size of my camera think not bad…Do not worry Jan will not put the personal photos on will send e mail xxx

Last night at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, a large crowd came along to enjoy some great live music from The Sole Bay Jazz Band.

Some really good music along with some fun made the evening rather special.

Tim as always on form with Saxophone/Clarinet…nice to see more smiles nowadays…Trummy that Trombone plays the most awesome notes as well as the "arsonium" Ray fingers flying on the Piano… and our lovely back liners Craig those Drums take a beating…Alan on Guitar/Banjo keeping the beat… and dear Tony on that String Bass, as I said a great evening.

Sole Bay Jazz and Friends…

Another great night of live music from the Sole Bay Jazz Band at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham.

A very large crowd came along lots of new faces, so some of the regulars had to fight for chairs…again some did not really listen to the music, pity some people talk all the time and not in the breaks however most of us go to listen to the music, so we do try not to let the few spoil the many…

I must say we had two little children who behaved so well, not a chat there, they just sat on the floor and watched it all and gave us a demo of dancing in the interval, very proud of you hope you enjoyed it. So good to see youngsters into jazz!

Lovely to see some who are not well come along to enjoy the music, and those who are still unwell you are all in our thoughts and get better soon and come back to us.

Thanks to all those who dug deep for the raffle much appreciated as with Jon's import from the bar it helps towards the band and the prizes, thanks for those who have contributed to the prizes again.

Of course thanks to my raffle tickets folders, and Clover for her furniture removals ha ha they are flipping heavy aren't they Clover… Thanks of course to Jon who took a lot of stick taking over from Heidi even if Tim did not think you were as pretty as Heidi John we think you are lovely sorry you did not win a prize though.

Lots of different music and Roy was able to give us a few songs which was rather nice.

Great playing from these talented musicians thanks Gary for sitting in for Craig, hope you enjoyed it.
