Nice to have some of the Sole Bay Jazz Band back with us at Ditchingham last evening…

A good night of Jazz with some fun as well…

Yet another good crowd, although a few of the regulars must still be on holiday…but plenty there to enjoy the music and the singing.

Simon Denny came along, and sang us some melodies
very nice Simon…

Some good solo's from Craig and the flying drum sticks, and Kevin love that guitar… waited to hear Tony on the bass with a solo but maybe next week, very good playing from  Tim, Derek and Chris…so thank you one and all…

Thanks Lisa for your hard work…and to those who give to the raffle, it enables the band to have a bit of pocket money, and always the thrill of winning that whiskey!!!

We would have to pay a lot to hear such good musicians each week so to get in free with just me making sure you all have your money ready is a small price to pay…

Thanks also Jan for finding enough space for all of us in the car! my turn next week.

No photos, it was one of those listening nights and forgot I had not taken any, so sorry boys…

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

What a great crowd of people to come and support the Sole Bay Jazz Band last night at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

After a terrible storm which I thought would keep a lot of folk away, the evening turned out very pleasant both in the weather and the music so …Thank you Sole Bay…

Simon Denny came along and gave us some great vocals… and several really wonderful solos were heard from the others…We also had a member of the audience to play harmonica, very nice thank you who ever you were did not catch the name…but see I caught you on camera!

Thank you Lisa you did a good job for Heidi, hope you enjoyed it…

My camera ( or is it me) played up so not as many photos as I actually took that I can put on here.

However the music and the fun between the band made for a great evening.

Thank you all for the cards and birthday wishes…Thanks Jan for taking us and for some of the goodies…

Alistair and Lemon Curd…

I am not sure whether I have put Alistair with his lemon curd on the blog before, but over the years of following his progress as a great singer songwriter, we his fans have always been aware that he is a very down to earth young man, who amongst his many talents, has always made lemon curd for the local fete…

Last year after many years he won! Yesterday the judging took place and he did not win… sad but he will try again next year…

After all he has written The Road and performed with Kimberley Walsh, produced a new album, cycled many miles for Cancer charity… all this year…you cannot win them all… Well done Alistair…

Alistair's lemon curd

This years tasting by Alistair!

Roy's night…

Well that was very  a very different night of music… as well as the list below, we had 2 trombones joining  in and Simon Denny singing, (very nice Simon)!

Not all jazz but a mixture, and not sure they had a list!  ha ha sorry Roy! …seemed to be a lot of 'what shall we play' in between the music, but it was hot for them, and the lights are bright over the band…… but  all in all a good night…so thanks guys …

So with Roy…Simon…Barry…Peter…and Jenny (thanks Jenny liked them) we had another 'lots of singing night'…

Peter played his usual great guitar… Ian and Roy on their Saxs …Tony on his string bass, Barry, we missed the Moon Dance that him and Simon sings… another time maybe…but great piano playing…Dave drumming and nice smiles…

We were so surprised when we walked in nice and early to find a lot of folk already there, so another change of seats for some of us, several new people as well as the regulars. Seems we will have to get there even earlier to get seats! But of course great that people turn out for the live music…

But it was a very hot night and the doors were not all open… so a nice walk around the grounds in the interval, brought 4 of us 'gals' having a go on the sports equipment… ha ha that was a giggle…thanks you know who!

Thanks Heidi for your hard work, and have a lovely holiday we will miss you…

I think it is back to the Sole Bay Jazz next week will put it on when I receive the list from Alan.

Thanks to everyone…

Great afternoon thank you all, nice to see our Boys there, they know who I mean… Hope the beer was tasty after you got the wasp out Duncan!

Southwold day out…

Another lovely day out with Jan, we had a shopping day, lunch and garden centre, earlier in  the week, and yesterday we went off to Southwold, we needed a cheer up  as not enough good news of late…

So off we went… ha ha well of course forgot us locals do not go midday into Southwold as so many visitors, so Jan drove all the way around we saw the fairs and the harbour, lovely, then as all car parks full, went back to the Pier to park.

So instead of Fish and Chips as we normally have, we went on to the pier and had a Pizza between us, should have taken a photo of it, as it was huge, we were cheeky and asked for another plate which they were pleased to provide, we watched it being made and popped in  the oven the smell was delicious… the taste was even better… we had a pretty flowery tea pot with real tea, and a little bottle of milk very sweet…so nice lot of tea to wash the pizza down, we managed to get up in the end ignoring with great regret that we had not space for those yummy cakes on display!!!!

Walked along the pier, and then a lovely walk  from  the pier watching all the many folk sunning themselves and swimming, notice they still are silly enough to let children have floats in the water, not a good idea with our tides, however lots of lifeguards about, mmm come to think of it even at my age could appreciate those young lifeguards…

Went round the town, in all the dress shops browsing, and in the Amber shop which is always a must, all we came back with was a Beccles and Bungay Journal…  rather to many folk about but wandered into the Adnams  shop which is another must…then back along the front to wander along to the pier again…

The next must have… is the gorgeous special ice  creams cost a lot but yummy… we had Rhubarb and Ginger this time… sat on the pier and people watched, always a reality wake up, we are a nation of large folk! and strange fashions! with lots of giggles from us what a good way to enjoy the sit down…

Then sadly back to the car, just in time for the ticket had nearly run out, then back home,  …Lovely sunny day with a nice sea breeze… always a great time in Southwold we are so lucky to be near the coast…thanks Jan…

as always the lighthouse…

The pier in the distance…

Of course the usual photo with the seagull!

The two greys they give rides now, after all the years of pulling the beer casks…

And the lovely braided brown horse that was so good…

Jazz Night…

Well …Thursday night at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, was full to overflowing with both Musicians and People! June and I arrived early to find the place nearly full, so a lot of different places had to be found for the regulars, I know we do not own the tables and chairs and it is good sometimes we have a change, and so pleased so many attend …but thank goodness for a lovely evening so some could sit outside.

It was an extremely hot evening and their must have been over 100 people there, some regulars and some more new faces,, still the problem with tables and chairs, as I have already mentioned, but some did bring their garden chairs, and some sat on the floor!

As well as those I put on the last post, we had Ron Hockett visiting again, adding a real mix to the 7 already on offer. Always a pleasure to hear him play.

Lots of all kinds of music with the different line up, Tony P sang, as well  as Geoff Whatling, then Simon Denny gave us some of his melodic songs, also Roy sang a couple…

Tony P gave us some great trombone as well as keeping us all entertained with his chat on things…

They played 'Onions' at the end and nice to hear people shouting that out!!

Thanks as always to Heidi who no matter how many people she serves, always has a smile, and maybe she is like a swan all cool on top and paddling like mad underneath, but she is such an asset.…

I could not get near to take any photos, and would not have been able to get everyone in, but they all did a grand job of keeping people entertained.

Thanks SImon for making it an entertaining raffle…

Next week I hear it will be Roy and his band, so will await to see who is playing with them…
