Southwold walk…

Well who could resist this wonderful April weather, instead of weeding in the garden, Jan and I decided a day out in Southwold would be just the ticket, and it certainly was. Thanks Jan…

I need some better walking shoes but apart from aching feet, we had a lovely stroll around the golf course and gorse bushes which smelled rather nice.

Then  a little walk into town, before getting fish and chips at 'Mark's'  then we sat on one of the many benches near the Church, we could not believe our luck sitting there in the beautiful sunshine, eating our lunch…some locals wandered past and we chatted, even got offered a cup of tea, but we thought we would wander down to the sea, the beaches were nicely full of people and several people swimming. Sorry I could not make it to the Pier Jan, next time I hope…

Decided to have cup of real tea with a piece of cake in the Brewery cafe very nice sat out in the sunshine,  and we both forgot when we poured the second cup so tea leaf reading was in order!!!

We walked back to the car, then decided another hour would be good just sitting on a bench on the common , so we indulged , taking our shoes off and just relaxing and having a giggle…really who needs going abroad when we have weather like this!

press to enlarge this as the view is worth it…

A couple of photos of part of our walk… great views.

Southwold…

Today… the two Jan's and me went for a trip out, thanks Jan for driving…

We all love Southwold,  but today we did not go to the pier as we do usually…we took a different walk down to the Harbour…

We had a lovely lunch in a little cafe I had not noticed before, but the food we can recommend.

This was so tasty …A starter which was very filling…
so we each had some…then fresh crab sandwiches with salad and a great dressing yummy…

We could not have chosen a better day for weather…

Swans and cygnets in green water…

A field of cows and bullocks we walked through…

These two found some blackberries!

And these two lovely ladies walked, as I did with them for a lot of miles…

Thanks girls I had a lovely time we should sleep tonight with all that fresh sea air…
When are we going again?

Southwold day out…

Another lovely day out with Jan, we had a shopping day, lunch and garden centre, earlier in  the week, and yesterday we went off to Southwold, we needed a cheer up  as not enough good news of late…

So off we went… ha ha well of course forgot us locals do not go midday into Southwold as so many visitors, so Jan drove all the way around we saw the fairs and the harbour, lovely, then as all car parks full, went back to the Pier to park.

So instead of Fish and Chips as we normally have, we went on to the pier and had a Pizza between us, should have taken a photo of it, as it was huge, we were cheeky and asked for another plate which they were pleased to provide, we watched it being made and popped in  the oven the smell was delicious… the taste was even better… we had a pretty flowery tea pot with real tea, and a little bottle of milk very sweet…so nice lot of tea to wash the pizza down, we managed to get up in the end ignoring with great regret that we had not space for those yummy cakes on display!!!!

Walked along the pier, and then a lovely walk  from  the pier watching all the many folk sunning themselves and swimming, notice they still are silly enough to let children have floats in the water, not a good idea with our tides, however lots of lifeguards about, mmm come to think of it even at my age could appreciate those young lifeguards…

Went round the town, in all the dress shops browsing, and in the Amber shop which is always a must, all we came back with was a Beccles and Bungay Journal…  rather to many folk about but wandered into the Adnams  shop which is another must…then back along the front to wander along to the pier again…

The next must have… is the gorgeous special ice  creams cost a lot but yummy… we had Rhubarb and Ginger this time… sat on the pier and people watched, always a reality wake up, we are a nation of large folk! and strange fashions! with lots of giggles from us what a good way to enjoy the sit down…

Then sadly back to the car, just in time for the ticket had nearly run out, then back home,  …Lovely sunny day with a nice sea breeze… always a great time in Southwold we are so lucky to be near the coast…thanks Jan…

as always the lighthouse…

The pier in the distance…

Of course the usual photo with the seagull!

The two greys they give rides now, after all the years of pulling the beer casks…

And the lovely braided brown horse that was so good…

Southwold

A little view of sizewell dome in the distance with the rays of sun…

A very nice little trip out yesterday to Southwold, Jan decided a breathe of sea air would do me good after being stuck indoors for a week…

She was right a nice little walk…then some great soup and bread at Adnams and it blew the cobwebs away…

One step at a time, but at last can see the back of this cough and cold…

Southwold beckoned!

Yes indeed, this lunchtime having done the  food shopping… I had a text from Jan to say 'how about Southwold'…

No need for a second bidding! I drove up to hers, and got in her car and off we went…

Well we are single …alone and older, done our share of hard work…so nice to do something on the spur of the moment.

Firstly made our way to 'Mark's' fish and chip shop, 'cod and chips' which we took on the common and sat and ate them, very yummy…'common' but we did eat them with fish knives and forks!ha ha Then we walked down to the pier, where we had an expensive but very lovely rhubarb and ginger ice cream…sat on the pier and ate that…

A nice walk back through town and a browse in the Amber Shop… then on to the common and picked blackberries… took them back to the car and left our coats, (sunshine lovely) off to Adnams Cafe to have a cup of tea and a slice of carrot cake! Sitting in the sunshine…

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday afternoon!

Of course the usual photo of the lighthouse…

A view from the common…

we spotted a lot of sparrows in the hedge, but of course they mostly flew away as we came along…

SOUTHWOLD EVENING

My sister in law Jan (Happy Birthday Jan) took me to Southwold yesterday evening…

We love to go and eat fish and chips on the common when we can with the seagulls looking on hoping we are not going to finish the chips!…it was so busy a few weeks ago we could not even park, but we were lucky last night…

We then go for a walk from there to the pier which is a nice walk, lots of folk still about, plenty of Adnams being drunk by locals!

While we were sitting on the seat watching the world go by the sky was wonderful so here are a few shots from our walk…
It was like a rainbow glad it came out …
Have to have a photo of the lighthouse…
When we got back to the common the sky was gorgeous…
Walked a little further round…
I hope it comes across at least a little like it was…
This was how it ended up by the time we got home to Beccles…

Forgot this one of the pier we did go on it and had a yummy cup of coffee!

Thanks Jan for a great time lets do it again soon please…

Happy Birthday to a lovely lady who looks after a lot of people and never thinks about herself the world needs a lot more like you Jan.

Do not forget you can click on the photos to bring them up larger!

SOUTHWOLD YET AGAIN

A few shots with my new little camera! thought this looked interesting!
Should have given this one to Dive for his Monday spot! never seen the tide so high, neither had this chap obviously!
Young seagulls, should have put a video on so you could have heard them!
These ones posed!
A lone sail boat, being targeted by more seagulls!
Lovely ocean going sail boat off to somewhere nice.
More seagulls!
Three hulls are better than one?
Yet more seagulls..
The tide was the highest I have ever seen.
Just a lovely walk along the harbour on a Sunday afternoon. Hope you enjoy. I did!

Click on the photos for a better look.
