Sole Bay Jazz Band evening…

Another very nice evening of Jazz by the Sole Bay Jazz Band 
at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

The band played well and some lovely music some had not heard for  while, we are so lucky to have such talented players each week, pity a few more people did not come along, but many are on holiday and maybe unwell, but those of us there were treated to a very good night of live music, nice rapport between all the band and Bill always brings a smile… Also a nice rendition of a Happy Birthday played to Christine and very well sung by everyone.

Yes Terry will mention that Craig gave us some extra drum solos which of course are always much appreciated. Tim looking nice and bright in blue, playing up a storm with his sax and clarinet… Ray with those flying fingers on the piano… dear Tony string bass and thanks for looking up… Alan who does such a good job as well as playing to organise the line up each week… 

Robin big congratulations on yet another London Marathon… well done.

Next week there will not be the opportunity to listen as there is a very important football match on and as it is the Sports Pavilion the band will not be playing… please pass this on to anyone who does not either read this blog or Face Book…The band would not like anyone turning up and finding the footballers who will not perform jazz!!!

As well you may want to put the 24th May in your diaries as the band will not be playing either as there is a big  private 'do' on at the Pavilion. But will pop notice on for that again at a later date.

Missed Heidi behind the bar but Cloe did a good job with us…Thanks to Clover and Christine for a very nice raffle… and the 'boys' for folding the tickets.

Day Out…

Today Jan and I took Jazz Janet for lunch to celebrate her birthday which was last week…

Nice lunch at The Wherry then a walk down where I had never walked before but somewhere JJ had told us about, that she used to visit, however it was a strange walk  loads of rubbish and derelict she did tell us how it used to be though, never knew we had such places around Oulton Broad , would not walk it in the dark that is for sure…then onto a more pleasant walk to the park by the river…nice cup of tea and cake at the cafe, we did have a worry when we nearly got run over by a very fast gentleman on one of those disability scooters! phew! Several children were having a swim nice to see them enjoying the day.

Sole Bay Jazz Band…

A hot night of weather at The Sports Pavilion last evening listening to The Sole Bay Jazz Band!

A bit subdued some of the evening from the band which one might expect as it was very warm and we have not been used to this weather it came rather suddenly, however no doubt it will change and we will be moaning about the cold again!!!

But our talented band gave us a great evening of live music, (some a bit loud for my ears)… however, everyone  enjoyed it , and there were some rather nice  tunes being played some of them great favourites of mine…good solo Derek… nice lot of bass from our Tony, good drumming from the master Craig…Ray with fingers flying, and of course Tim who plays a mean bit of jazz and knows all about every artist …so all in all good night, a bit better crowd than last week, although a few people will be on their holidays soon no doubt, but the band will still be playing for us every week, Alan does a good job of finding us good music every Thursday through the year, so we are a lucky crowd of fans.

Thank you all for digging deep for the raffle which was a rather nice one Clover and Christine thanks to you and the 'boys' for the ticket folding. It all helps with getting these talented musicians every week to play for us.

A couple of items, firstly our ex drummer Neil Kane who passed away recently will be having a private family funeral, but Margaret has invited all his friends to…The Waveney House Hotel for a celebration of Neil's life, as many people would like to say thank you for his many years of playing for us all. The date is the 9th of May at 1pm, so please come along and say farewell.

Another item is our Heidi, who has decided to have a break from being our smiling bar lady on a Thursday night, so many will miss her, but of course she will pop in to see us now and again, and from us all Heidi enjoy your lovely children and hubby and good luck in everything you do.

Just a little mention of course of our Robin who will be once again running the London Marathon good luck to him and all who are running…

A nice evening of talented playing at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

Some good melodies enjoyed by a rather small audience… however those of us who were there appreciated the music so thank you Sole Bay Jazz Band for some rather nice playing.

Thanks Clover and Christine for the raffle it was a nice one as usual… thanks also to the 'boys' for their ticket folding.

Heidi we are going to miss you after next week but hope you will pop in now and then to see us. We will welcome our new bar person hope whoever it is will enjoy the music.

Sad news that our drummer of many years  Neil Kane who used to play before we had our  Craig… Neil  has passed away to play in that great band up in the sky, so condolences to Margaret… he will be missed.

I wish we had news of Bob still do not know how he is, so for all you jazz folk that are unwell and unable to get to jazz hurry up and get better we do miss you all.

Congratulations to all those who ran the Bungay half marathon nice to see the medals Fudge love the T shirts!!  and good luck Robin for the London Marathon… just take care.

Sole Bay Jazz Night…

Really great to see such a good crowd to support the Sole Bay Jazz Band last evening at The Sports Pavilion. Ditchingham.  Nice to see some back from holiday .

Seven players and a couple of vocals from Barry made it a rather entertaining evening…

Also not too loud well apart from some finishes ha ha… but good playing from all.

Tim playing a solo and also with Derek 2 clarinets great playing… Ray on that piano had his fingers flying, Allan B on cornet and trumpet and some vocals…and our grand back line who always do us proud.

Thanks Christine you did a good job of the raffle on your own, and thank you everyone for digging deep, as I always say, you and Jon help to let us hear such talented musicians each Thursday evening. Also of course thanks to Colin and Duncan for folding the tickets.

Heidi is leaving us soon …what will we do without you? but good luck in everything you do you are such a lovely smiling young lady, I know it will be hard for Jon to replace you, but he will find someone to work the bar, oh as Christine said pity we are not younger!!!

Happy Birthday to Janice and Carolyn…

Hope all who are unwell are soon able to join us again,  Roy we miss you but good to have a chat on phone yesterday and hopefully you will be along when you can. have not seen our Bob of late, if anyone can let me know how he is that would be nice please.

The Bungay Marathon is on Sunday and Robin /Fudge/ Jess and all those taking part good luck and drink plenty of water. Will be there hopefully to cheer you all on.
