Last night at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham… The Sole Bay Jazz Band and Guests gave us yet another different evening.
I was so pleased to see a lot more people coming along to support the band, and they seemed to enjoy it all.
Some different music as I said, rather loud in the first half for me but then I am getting old!!!! As I saw some hearing aids being turned down realised it was not just me! Ha ha and Craig made Tim jump at one time with some drumming!! …Tim said they had indulged in their own music so hope we enjoyed it. some lovely sounds and great singing Tony P…
Thanks to Clover and Chris for doing the raffle, and the boys for folding the tickets, thanks to you all for digging deep to help support the live music.
Heidi …Nice hair cut! thanks as always. Nice to see Fudge back!
Good company and great music thanks to one and all…

Sole Bay Jazz Band knees up…
A great night of upbeat music from the Sole Bay Jazz Band and guests last night at The Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…
Thanks to one and all, still not full a full house, but better than the past two weeks, so remember come along and enjoy live music, because if you do not you will lose it !
A great line up of talent with lots of fun as well. Think everyone had a smile on their faces as some really different music and finishing with a great blast ringing in our ears to take us on our way home….
Tim, Trummy and Ray at the front, and Craig, Tony with Mel at the back line, gave us some really happy music, and thanks Mel for the vocals, and of course to Hannah for giving us some songs as well…still a bit new to the Sole Bay, but hopefully will come along and sing for us now and again, nice to see the younger element.
Thanks to Clover and Chris for doing the raffle and of course to the 'boys' for folding the tickets, I do miss chatting to everyone, but must say my back has improved with the ladies taking on the raffle.
Thanks to Heidi as always for the smiles behind the bar, certainly missed our Fudge this week didn't we, even brought a comment from Tim!!!
I am still trying to find out how some of our regulars are that are unwell, get in touch if you see this please.
Only a few photos as have not got any new fangled i phones or other types that are available !

Sole Bay Jazz Band……
Last evening at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham the Sole Bay Jazz Band, played up a good storm with some rather nice music and some fun so made it a very enjoyable evening even if it was rather hot in fact very very hot, not great for the musicians as well as the very small crowd that came to support the band.
It would have been nice to see a few more people coming along, however those that made the effort enjoyed the variety of music and songs!
Yes some great songs from our lovely Jenny, as always Jen our hearts go out to you always a pleasure to hear you singing again, and our Roy, who has lost his voice a lot of late, but well done Roy you got through the songs with a smile.
Some great playing from all the band sorry you were up against it with the heat, but fun as I said nice to see the gel between those playing.
Thanks Heidi as always a smile and we will try and find out how Don and Keith are. hope all those who are unable to come along because of illness, get well soon.
Clover and Chris thanks for doing the raffle, and the 'boys' for the ticket folding.
Well done once again Robin for taking part in yet another run! Those medals must be taking up a lot of room now.
Good company great music thanks Sole Bay …so looking forward to the next session…

Big Dog Ferry…
Today the hottest day of the year! Jan, JJ and some friends and me took ourselves on the Big Dog Ferry for an afternoon up the river…
Nice breeze but phew very hot, however we had a great time, I took photos all the way up the Geldeston Locks Inn, so will do a couple of posts because it was so nice to go up the river and see our lovely trees, unfortunate that we did not spot a Kingfisher, but the swans were lovely.
Matt our ferry man was very good and got us into our life jackets, 12 on the boat trip up and back, what a great job in the summer, he was chatting to Jan and I on the way back about all the different things he sees going up and down the river. 3 miles up to the Locks and it was really a wonderful change as had not been up there for several years.
Of course my Dad had a row boat when we were small and we spent a lot of time on the Waveney there were not so many boats in those days though. And a lot easier with an outboard motor than the oars…
We had a nice cool drink when we got to the Locks Inn and then a very nice meal, plus coffee, and then a little walk to watch some of the youngsters swimming.
A good crowd there of course a lot come up on the road and we have done that many a time, but coming up by boat is far nicer.
Thanks ladies for a lovely day, still trying to get cool! but could not have chosen a better day for our River trip.

Day Trip… 2nd part…
From the garden centre at Moulton St Mary, us three ladies went back to the village and down by the river, for a nice cool drink, as by then the weather had improved a lot, we sat chatting to some of the holiday makers on their hire boats, and then walked to the swing bridge… It was so nice to watch the trains going over the bridge and then later the bridge swung open to let a high masted yacht through.
The tide flows swiftly all along that stretch and some of the boats were going rather fast, but fascinating to watch. thought one would hit the bridge!
We then went back past the lovely Pump Station and some of those barns that had been converted, and back to the Ferry, the river flows very fast there but another very nice Ferry Man took care of us, then back home chatting most of the way remembering our lovely day.
So flat everywhere so as I said before we could see for miles.
Once again thanks Jan for driving and getting us on and off the Ferry so well, and for JJ for the great idea of us going there for our day out. Looking forward to the next one wonder where that will be??????
