Beautiful, Alifan! Do you prefer fondant or icing to cover your cakes? My daughter likes to decorate and has been playing with fondant, but no one seems to like the taste or texture. Maybe she should attempt to make her own instead of using pre-made stuff.

Hi Robyn... I use sugar paste over marzipan, the sugar paste is quite sweet, but everyone who has the cakes like it, I do Royal Icing for the lace etc..... I have made it myself, but it is very time consuming.

I can confirm, Robyn; Mum's cakes are awesome. The icing is icky-sweet but the sheer gorgeousness of the fruit and alcohol more than compensate.
