SUNDAY WALK BY THE RIVER

This is our Beccles quay and the river wall should be for people to walk on, but of course who can compete with all these fishermen and their poles......we used to catch loads of fish when I was small and we just had a pole and some string and worms, think we caught more than they were.... was going to take a pic of their fish bait, but thought it was rather yuk!!!!!!

The Quay over the other side is still flooded.....

Jan and I decided that we needed a walk in the bitter cold but great sunshine, so we set off for the river and marshes...Trees are a great love of mine and this is pretty old......

A swan on its own is unusual around here, but it seemed happy enough...............

Could not resist the shadows...not a place to go in the dark though.............

Not as good as Dives water pics, but nice and wavy.....

Beccles is a way in the distance you can just see the church tower.....we have a long walk still ahead, but it was great....

Oscar

Last night a load of very loud fireworks were going off outside, and Oscar had been frightened, however later he settled on his bed, and looked so sorrowful......

Then decided it was not so bad after all!!!!!!

Hibiscus Wedding Cake

This is the "hibiscus" wedding cake in position at the hotel on the afternoon of the ceremony.

Dive came to help me get the cake to the hotel and set it up.
It was a bit of a panicky journey through Saturday afternoon traffic and along "Puddingmoor", a bumpy, mediæval street alongside the river to get to the Waveney House Hotel, but we got it there without losing any flowers.

This is a close-up of the top tier.
This was my first attempt at making hibiscus flowers and many, many hours of frustration, stress and heartache went into making these.
Seeing the bride and bridegroom's faces this afternoon made it all worthwhile.

Just don't ask me for any hibiscus cakes for a while. My poor old brain needs to relax.

Wedding cake

This is hopefully going to please my customer.. this is the first time of setting up, may change a few things, but fingers crossed she will be happy.......

I also hope she does not mind me posting it on here before the wedding.....
