I went to the theatre last night with some of my lovely family. to see Willy Russell's "Blood Brothers". a West end hit musical....well no doubt most of you know about it.....There is a Narrator, who is on stage most of the time, very handsome! and rather creepy..
The background was the same, and they kept bringing props on, the lighting was truly spectacular, and the sound...
Such a great cast and very captivating, if you do not know the story, it is set in Liverpool England, and is about a mother of a large family who is asked to give one of her twin boys away to a rich family, it was strange to see grown people play children, but it was so very clever and funny..... the twins meet up by a twist of fate, and they become blood brothers... the singing, lighting and sound as I have said were really great....and added so much to the story....The main cast a Mrs Johnstone, was played very very well by one of the Nolan sisters. And her voice is so good...
After the interval it is the children and the twins grown up, then tragedy, Police and guns came through the audience, bit jumpy!! then they all sang Tell Me it's Not True, a very haunting song, truly moving, they had a standing ovation, and six curtain calls.... so all in all a great musical....
On the 7th April we are going to see "Broadway" with loads of music from shows.... by the same creators of "Spirit of the Dance" that we saw last year, so looking forward to that......
I am getting to like going to our little Theatre, but have to be choosy as it is quite expensive, but well worth it.....

Malta again Thanks to Dina
Thank you Dina for the photo's I am so happy to be reliving some lovely memories... and I hope you do not mind me borrowing this one.
The memories of this picture.. well several, it was our favourite place to have wonderful milk shakes, we used to walk into Valletta from Marsa, and sit in this great place... the pigeons were rather messy if I remember, and it certainly looks like Victoria has been cleaned up....
The Zerafa Street pictures are being well looked at, and I thank Dina again for those..
Just off Zerafa Street was Hamrun.. where there used to be a picture house, we spent a lot of hours there as well.....
In Valletta there was a NAFFI where we did some shopping, and I am sure if one of our friends who is still in contact after all those years would be pleased to record many of the cooking mistakes they had to put up with! One Christmas we bought some frozen sprouts from the NAFFI, and as I was only 19 at the time (I use that as an excuse.)...We brought some of these... and duly took them to cook for the meal for about 10 service men, who were coming to eat with us....I had a very small parrafin cooker as I have said before, and as there was rather a lot of things to cook (I must tell you about the chicken's one of these days) I left the sprouts until last, and yes you guessed they were still frozen solid when I put them on the plates, needless to say we all ended up in fits of laughter thank goodness, but it has never been forgotten...
Sorry Dive, now I cannot stop, all these memories ,so bring that scanner over asap and we must find some of the albums from the loft.....There are some really cute ones of him Ame which he will probably not let me put on here.... tee hee as you would say.....

Malta
Just had to say a big thank you to Dina as she has taken some photo's of Zerafa Street in Malta...on her blog for me....
Never thought anything could bring such memories back by looking at a picture...The fun we had there...
When we first lived there.... lizards and scorpions were something I had only heard of...but found them everywhere, ants, never forget we came home from Valletta to find our cupboard covered in them.... only had cold water, and an old parrafin stove to cook on, but they were the only downside's... we had wonderful friends from the RAF base and the Navy base as well, the flat was never empty... one of our neighbours was called Olympia, and for several years she sent us photo's of her family... and our landord Tony used to send calendars to his Three little Farrows as he called us...
We had a party for John's 21st, and some of our friends from England came out, one from the Merchant Navy, one from the Army, and some on holiday...in those days we did not have telephones, and the next week we had a newspaper cutting from home, one of the boys had told his Mum and the party was in print.... luckily they did not have all that went on!!!
When Dive arrived at the David Bruce Hospital in Imptarfa ... we were at one with all our Maltese neighbours, they had asked me nearly everyday for 2 years why I had not got children.....and they made such a fuss of him because he was very fair...... where did that hair go D???
So thank you Dina my day will be filled with Malta memories.....

CHICAGO
Well not the place!!! but the Show....
I have not been posting much, as I do lead a quiet life really, but yesterday I helped to prepare a buffet for 30 people, then a night out...
I was treated to a visit to the Theatre Royal last night.....to see "Chicago" the musical.
It was very very good great singing and the Orchestra was on the stage and was part of the show, they were truly talented... All that Jazz.. is still roaring in my head..
After the show the Orchestra played all that jazz on their own, to great applause.
The singing was very good but the dancing was amazing, so clever, really could do with seeing it again as so much was going on, on the stage, very fit people....
So thanks Tony for taking me, a great night..... and thanks Marian and Jeff for the good company later....
