The Angel…Halesworth…

Sunday from 4-6.30pm at The Angel Halesworth  once a month they have a Jazz session, I have never been, but a lot of our Thursday night jazzers do go, but I was lucky enough to get taken for lunch (very tasty) and then to listen to the quartet playing, thank Tim, and thanks to some of the Coven crowd who I was lucky enough to sit with…Nice comfy chairs…great company…
Neil I will mention… as on Thursday nights…(Yes there was a lot of chat) ha ha But of course it is a Pub!

What a lovely little venue, and such great music, Tony Parsons…Tim Densham…Tony Jullings… and then saw Phil Brook walk in, what a great combination,  I knew there would be a 4th but did not know who, and you know me with guitar playing! so Phil plus Tony P ( who's little gig it is) on Trombone /Vocals, ah yes  and the Russian song came out again! Tim with the Baritone/and Soprano Sax' also Clarinet, Tony J hiding behind that String Bass, gave us all some really good music.

Did manage a couple photos, missed Tony J off a bit as he was behind the door…

SOLE BAY JAZZ BAND

Every week at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham, the Sole Bay line up is very good, sometimes it is brilliant, and this line up proved again to be one of those, I think because everyone of these talented musicians enjoyed their playing as well as us in the audience…

Always a pleasure to hear Ron Hockett and Tim Densham playing their duets at the front, you cannot get much better than that, and Ray such a wizard on the piano, put together Craig on the drums who must be one of the best in the area, we of course think he is the best… Tony Jullings on the string bass, that man  can make music, and Alan Cugnoni keeping the beat, and of course sorting the line up each week, so we can hear such great live music, Simon Denny seems to sing us such moving songs each week such a pleasure, also took some more black and white photos for me this week, to put on here…I think they are so good.Thank you all…

Lovely to see a nice crowd, even though a lot of the regulars are either on holiday or not well, so to all those who are not feeling their best, we send a big 'get well soon' to you all. not such a big crowd but at least nearly everyone had a chair! I will not mention the talking as do not want to upset our Ian! ha ha, sorry Ian xx And not sure if our smoker of the e cigarette looks in on here, but thank you for refraining from smoking inside when I asked you not to, I do appreciate that.

Keith, each week comes along even though not very well, to enjoy the music and provide the raffle also does the books, so a great big thank you to him as  would not know what we would do without him, and Sheila. The raffle as you know is to help with getting the good line ups in the band each week, so thank you all for those who dig deep, without your support the band at the venue could not take place, and of course there would not be the thought that 1 of the 5 prizes could be won, thanks to all my folders of the tickets.

Heidi as always wonderful looking after us all behind that bar, you need a fan back there young lady if the weather stays as it was last night.

So good to meet up with friends how lucky am I!

I say it a lot but we are all so lucky to have such talented musicians each week to play for us thank you all for the support.

Sole bay line up for the 18th June

Goodness me this year seems to be flying by, and not a very flaming June so far!

But we do have our Thursday night Live Music session at the Sports Pavilion, Ditchingham to look forward to, this week another different line up.

Tim Densham…Saxophone/Clarinet…

Allan Bradley Cornet/Trumpet…

Ray Simmons…Piano…

Tony Jullings…String Bass…

Alan Cugnoni…Guitar/Banjo…

Dave Taylor…Drums…

Hopefully we will have Simon to give us some Vocals, and a good crowd to cheer them on.

Great to have such talent close to home, with no entrance fee, so do not forget to bring money for the raffle!!!! hint hint, as that way we can keep getting such good live music once a week.

8pm-10.30pm

Friday 19th
Another good night of live music at the Sports Pavilion…

Thanks to those who came along to support, rather smaller crowd than usual but holidays and sickness are the cause, so all those who are unwell I do hope you soon improve and able to come back to hear the Jazz. June… Peter…John, and anyone else of our crowd, hurry back. Also hope you are enjoying your belated honeymoon Fudge missed you.

I do apologise that I missed Derek Cubitt off the line up, sorry Alan I did not read the e mail right! , I shall be more careful in future.

So a different theme last night again, and some lovely playing, some great solos…also Simon did us proud again with some good songs, next time can we have Secret Love Simon??
Dave did well on the drums nice to see him, while Craig away. Ray on that piano a joy to hear, as were all the musicians we do appreciate the dedication of turning up each week to give us live music.

Lots of talking and again but suppose cannot stop that, we all chat, but some more than others! loudly! I could smell smoke at the end of the evening …apparently I did not see our chap who uses an e cigarette smoking but he was,  even after a promise he would not do so!  I was informed on the way home… hence probably why my throat bad, and people were sneezing! and poor Keith who was sitting in front of the chap was using his inhaler, so lets hope if he attends  again, he will be banned from smoking that e cig inside…Spoils it for a lot of folk. I always think it is like the limit on the roads always someone who thinks they know better and can go whatever speed they like, sad to see yet another road accident yesterday, wish people would realise that the car is a killing machine, not the roads that are the problem it is the drivers, as I feel that cigarettes and e cigarettes are killers, passive smoking is not good.

My rant is over!

Thanks Heidi for your smile and hard work always a pleasure to have you behind that bar.

A good line up coming for next week so watch this space…

Sole Bay Jazz with friends…

Yet another great night of live music, singing and fun… at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham.

The Band really played well and although not such a big crowd think everyone went home well happy with the evening. More new faces finding our little band, when the regulars come back off holiday, we may need extra room.

It was nice to see Simon Nelson again, him and Tony Parsons  both singing some great songs as well… joining Tim Densham on the front line, who played extra well I thought last night…while our intrepid 3 on the back Tony Jullings …Alan Cugnoni… and the Easts best drummer Craig Hipperson…kept the beat …

Simon Denny came and sang us some lovely songs as well, we are so lucky to have such fine musicians and singers to entertain us each week, for the price of a raffle ticket, it is a must that we do have the raffle…without it it would not be possible to have the Band each week so please dig deep  it is the only venue I know who has such talent without charging an entrance fee, so thank you for those who do come along and enjoy and put up with me asking for your money, and Keith for all he does it is not easy trying to supply some nice raffle prizes.

A few photos, not sure whether I was shaking or they were moving to the beat, however it gives you an idea of the band.

Sole Bay evening of Jazz

Great night of live jazz music at the Sports Pavilion Ditchingham…

Another good line up and some really talented playing… Mel Cox joined the band with his Banjo, always good to see and hear him, joining in with Tim …Derek … and Trummy on the front line, Brilliant as usual…Craig  and Tony keeping the beat at the back… Simon was there to give us some great songs, again a real pleasure…

Good size crowd, some got rather noisy suppose it does not matter when they are all playing but not so good when they do solo, however I must not grumble as I was late starting the raffle last night so had to disturb everyone for the money! which they gave well… It is essential to have the money which aids the good line ups Alan finds for us all as we do not charge an entrance fee…Keith gets the raffle prizes and does the books …so thank you all so much…

Nice to see Jon for a while at the end, he does a great job of running the Centre, and of course our Heidi with her lovely smile working hard…

Good friends and wonderful music what more could one want…

No photos this week, glad to see some of the not so well folk back again, and some will now be on holiday, so hope these thunders storms do not last long!

Hope to see you all next week…

The usual crew! Mike…Roy…Ian…Dave…Bill…Barry…Barbara… then Ivan played some piano, and Nick joined in a few numbers as well…

It is so hard to take photos there as the post is in the way so decided to try and do individual ones ha ha but not many smiles as they were all concentrating! Well only Dave smiling!
Thanks to the band… they played well and Roy. Barry. and Bill all did some vocals as well
Nice crowd and Roger as always busy at the bar, and the raffle of course…food by Julia and Michael this week… so thanks to all a good lunch time…
