**********************************************

Thank you Sole Bay and friends for some great playing last night…

A good line up nice lot of different sounds…

Sorry that a few newcomers spoilt the lovely friendly club we had going there, just hope they never return, Thanks Jon,Heidi,Fudge and Robin for trying to help, and I am so sorry one of our regulars was spoken to in an insulting way.

Spoilt my evening to hear such things, sad this day and age that there does not seem anywhere that one can go without that happening at some time.

The loud constant talking also spoilt the evening, we all chat but usually between the music, however constant loud talk by those who just come to drink and talk spoil it for those who come to listen to some great talented live music, so lets hope in future the ones who must chat would do it quietly so that we can enjoy all the music. Especially some of the new faces that seemed to be enjoying laughing at us near the band when were trying to listen! Please do not come back!

Lovely to see Don back and some others who had been unwell, hope everyone has improved health in the coming months…

The Footwarmers…

On Sunday lunchtime the Footwarmers were back at the Beccles Conservative Club in  Beccles.

There was a slightly different line up…and  they sounded really good, they also have such fun and that goes out to the audience, well those that were there to listen to the band. A good crowd if very noisy! people do shout loudly to one another whilst the band is playing,  but we at the front enjoyed it…we do chat but try to only do it between numbers, never the less it was a nice session. Thanks one and all…

could not resist Bill laid back great guitar playing…

As always difficult to get a photo of the whole band but did my best to include everyone.

Sole Bay Jazz Party

Well last night at the Sports Pavilion, Ditchingham, was like a party, as what a great line up of talent…

I say it all the time how lucky we are to be able to have live music with a different line up each week for just buying a raffle ticket, which of course as we cannot charge an entrance fee, this helps with getting musicians to play each week. Thank you for all those who do dig deep each week.

A great live music night and lots of new people coming to enjoy the evening, pity we do have so much chatter when the soloist are performing, luckily us at the front cannot hear so much when the band is playing together, but even they could not spoil the wonderful talent of the musicians we had.

Tony.Tim.Craig.Johnny.Alan.Ray…

At last a decent photo of Ray very serious here…

What a pleasure to meet Johnny Rogers a wonderful talent. and with Tim at the front they performed so well together, Ray as always a great pianist so good to listen to, and of course the lovely way they all play and laugh together, (never knew there were so many keys to pick from)
it makes it even more enjoyable. Our three super backing group performed so well, and Craig, even though you had such a tough and sad day, you played your heart out to us all well done.

Maybe that team a good thought for the future for a special night Alan … you did good there again. Thanks also to Tim who sorted some good music for the evening…

Thanks to one and all…Heidi as always what a star… great friends make good company.

Good luck to your Dad Fudge on Sunday for the Marathon…and what a sport to celebrate St Georges Day with that great shirt!

Get well soon to Jean who has broken her wrist, and to all those who are suffering with illness hope you will soon recover and be back to enjoy the music and company.

Sole Bay Jazz Band and Friends…

Once more …another great night of live music and fun at the Sports Pavilion…Ditchingham…

Nice to see so many people coming along to the venue, several new faces as well as some of the regulars, to all those fans that could not make it who were on holiday or sick, sorry but you missed a rather wonderful evening of talented music! It is always a good night from these musicians, but sometimes even better than others, and it was non stop last night.

Some really good vocals from Simon Nelson, gravel voice very nice… and Simon Denny who as always gave us some moving songs, they sing so different but added to the magic of the playing.

Tim with Clarinet/Sax/ Baritone Sax sounded so good, as did Derek who I thought played really well last evening, not many men could play like that after all these years, Simon on Cornet and lots of smiles… Ray on the Piano, hiding at the back but producing some finger licking good sounds… Alan on Banjo/Guitar, not at the same time! Tony on bass always so good, and of course our Craig, who certainly had a magical touch, lots of great drum sounds belting out…

So a huge thank you to the Band for giving us a great night …

Thanks Heidi working hard as always, and of course the many friends who make the night, so enjoyable  thanks also to all you folk who help by buying raffle tickets which gives Alan a chance to bring some different musicians to come and play for us. Keith thank you for looking after all the book side and getting the raffle prizes not an easy task.

A few photos but those lights do not like my camera, or maybe my bad captures!!!but the band was spread out so could not get everyone in…thanks to those who put up with me trying to take a few shots…

Next Week we have a special guest so look in later and find out who it will be……

smiling faces cheeky Simon and Simon!

Southwold walk…

Well who could resist this wonderful April weather, instead of weeding in the garden, Jan and I decided a day out in Southwold would be just the ticket, and it certainly was. Thanks Jan…

I need some better walking shoes but apart from aching feet, we had a lovely stroll around the golf course and gorse bushes which smelled rather nice.

Then  a little walk into town, before getting fish and chips at 'Mark's'  then we sat on one of the many benches near the Church, we could not believe our luck sitting there in the beautiful sunshine, eating our lunch…some locals wandered past and we chatted, even got offered a cup of tea, but we thought we would wander down to the sea, the beaches were nicely full of people and several people swimming. Sorry I could not make it to the Pier Jan, next time I hope…

Decided to have cup of real tea with a piece of cake in the Brewery cafe very nice sat out in the sunshine,  and we both forgot when we poured the second cup so tea leaf reading was in order!!!

We walked back to the car, then decided another hour would be good just sitting on a bench on the common , so we indulged , taking our shoes off and just relaxing and having a giggle…really who needs going abroad when we have weather like this!

press to enlarge this as the view is worth it…

A couple of photos of part of our walk… great views.

I do not know where to start it was soooo good so apologies for not having the skill to put down on here what I want to say……I will waffle on as usual………

Although it is always good… last night six brilliant musicians provided such a special evening, they played so well also had fun which of course then gets the crowd going. and there was such a lovely crowd, as well as the regulars some new faces, so hope they all enjoyed it as much as we did…Great play list Tim…

Thanks to everyone for digging deep for the raffle it all helps so much to getting good live music there every Thursday evening.

Roy, although under the weather, provided some good vocals to add to the fun, so all in all a very enjoyable night.

Ron also gave us his 'Walking Stick' song we were all pleased about that …nice to hear it again well rehearsed!

Craig goodness me his Drums wondered what had hit them how we all love those bursts of energy…

Tony and Alan always there with the beat and those fingers flying…great line up Alan…

I did not take photos as the band were well spread out and my little camera could not do them justice, but oh how I wish I had a recorder to tape the evening as it really was brilliant.

River Walk…

This morning the weather turned nice, a bit of cold wind, but more sunshine…Jan and I decided to forget the housework and go for a walk, nearly 2 hours walking along side the River Waveney, chatting and waving to all the holiday makers on the boats… very nice, walked round the marshes a bit as well when you get past the yacht station it is a bit rough going… if you look in Chris it was nice to see you…see you tomorrow night I hope.

If you open this up the White house in the background is where we got to… the river curves there…we call it Boater's Hills but no doubt it has a proper name, been well done up since we were children and used to row up there and swim in the river… in those day hardly saw a cruiser…Now it is full of them, still a good holiday especially in the nice weather…Not many people wearing life jackets though!

Have to take a Swan of course, the other one was further up, mates for life these Swans!

Back to the housework now!

HAPPY EASTER

Wishing all my blogger friends who look in on here a VERY HAPPY EASTER WEEKEND…

Some of my beautiful flowers, that are now ruined by the wind and rain, but so pleased I took these photos before…
